Re: FSP300-60PNA toasty resistor

Will see how it effects the rails and will maybe leave it out in that case.

The Teapos look fine but you are right ideally they would be swapped.

Thanks for the reply :)

FSP300-60PNA toasty resistor

Bit of a odd PSU this, its huge and has a very hefty weight to it yet only 300w.

Has a very meaty 5V rail which would be nice to use with my socket A stuff.

On inspection it has a dead Jamicon...

As above stick a fan on them, I used to use a Antec Cool Spot which...

Re: Really Corsair? A 250$ PSU with bad solder joints?

CWT don't like to tighten screws either.

Nice unit, reflow the connections and tighten up the screws see how she goes.

Re: Recapping Jeantech JNP-400P

It was the caps I used for the Standby, I was thrown off when the standby itself was fine but wouldn't power on.

Lesson learned!

Thanks for the input, always appreciated.

Re: Recapping Jeantech JNP-400P

Recapped this and while I have a perfect 5vsb the PSu will not power. Jumper trick and no action.

Ideas? Everything looks ok not sure what I have done :(

Re: Recapping Jeantech JNP-400P

Could that small cap be swapped for a larger? There is space on the silk screen.

Recapping Jeantech JNP-400P

Hello again :)

I am rebuilding a older system and would like to keep this PSU with it but it is a little tired being ten years old and caps around the 5Vsb were bulging.

I have most caps in...

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame

The PSU predates the Compaq by some years without a doubt.

I figured the person I acquired the machine off did a quick fix and swapped the PSU out for one from a older machine.

Usually I am up...

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame

Found this little beauty in a Compaq Presario A64.

Must have been a thoughtless replacement at some point for the original!

Fan was very stiff so I guess it ran hot and somewhat overloaded for...

Re: Abit KX7-333

X700 isn't a particularly desirable card anyway, if you are making a retro system it doesn't really belong in a older board such as you have.

Geforce 3 and 4's are usually very easy to come by, a...

Re: RJARRRPCGP rig 5.0

Very nice.

If you want a cheap upgrade to a 6 core 12 thread CPU grab a Xeon 5650 or similar off eBay for next to nothing :)

Re: Saving a Abit AN7 for the sake of it.

I am not sure, my other AN7 works fine with it but maybe it helped.

Think it was just finding a way of getting it out the loop it was in, booted fine after I got the no CPU code.

Re: Saving a Abit AN7 for the sake of it.

It's a temp fix, was better than what was there originally with it's guts hanging out :)

Will replace with another FR, there is also a 2200uf KZG thats healthy to be swapped out.
