Re: ps3 fat overheating problem

Did you use good quality thermal paste, like MX4? Sounds like you used the cheap stuff... which is likely contributing to the issue.

Reflowing isn't going to do you any good in terms of long term...

Re: Samsung UN50F6300AF No Backlights

Glad to hear that you got it working.

As i recall, the four strings are connected as two channels on the power supply board.

The SMPS silk screen shows the output of CH1 as 219V @ 245mA, and...

Re: SILO branded tv - model SL-4013 - no image, Nonbacklight, doesn’t always turn on

I guess my best option for a quick sanity check is to get a known good firmware image and a replacement SPI flash. SILO doesn't appear to provide one.

Re: SILO branded tv - model SL-4013 - no image, Nonbacklight, doesn’t always turn on

Hi all -
Update - I was able to extract the SPI flash contents by wiring up my Aardvark SPI flash programmer to it. I dumped the contents twice and compared the binary contents with a diff tool....

Re: SILO branded tv - model SL-4013 - no image, Nonbacklight, doesn’t always turn on

I was going through junk boards and found a 25Q16CSIG. The "C" device datasheet says the programming time is faster than the "B" version that i have on the board.

The other parameters and pinout...

Re: SILO branded tv - model SL-4013 - no image, Nonbacklight, doesn’t always turn on

Thanks for the quick suggestions... Sorry for the poor lighting. I've left this TV in the garage - in quarantine if you will. I'll have some additional time to look at this tomorrow. :)

The...

SILO branded tv - model SL-4013 - no image, Nonbacklight, doesn’t always turn on

Has anyone ever worked on a “Silo” branded tv?

I have one. Model SL-4013. The tv is in great physical shape.

The tv only comes on very now and then. The backlights are good - I dismantled the...

Re: Repair or replace Pal Original Playstation 2 fan

There should be a metal retention / contact type of piece in that white plastic part too for each pin.. I didn't see it in the picture. Are they missing? If so... you can solder on to the board side

Re: Samsung UE65H8500 wet inverter board

Thanks for the update!

Too bad -- a 65" TV would be fantastic i think ;)

I have a 55" TV above our fire place as a Chromecast picture frame TV.
50" TVs else where in the house .

Re: Repair or replace Pal Original Playstation 2 fan

Can you post an up close pic of the white connector and wire ends?

If memory serves, the wires just press fit into the connector.

Worst case, you can just hardwire it by soldering it on to the...

Re: Samsung Ln55b650t1f Part Identification

Interesting... can you check the four rectifying diodes on that power board? Wait until the big caps discharge first. If you can, either remove the diode from the circuit, or just lift one leg off...

Re: Samsung Ln55b650t1f Part Identification

+1 to BudM and the big scary cap comment. It's no joke. Don't die.

Just getting to my e-mail... standby goes down to 1.3V? STBY isn't loaded down when the TV is off (e.g it's within nominal), and...

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

I powered up the TV a little while ago - still works. I'm not under any impression the heatgun will be a permanent fix. Keeping the device cool has its merits.

In any case, the heatsink fins for...

Re: Samsung plasma tv PS43D450A2 pixel issues

Base questions first:

What's the part number of your X-main board?
Which parts (picture and circle them) did you replace a few months back?
What were the PNs of the parts that you...

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

+1

At work, we take our products through temperature cycling and HALT (highly accelerated life testing) in a temperature chamber. The basic premise is exactly what is pointed out in the article...

Re: Samsung Ln55b650t1f Part Identification

Yep. Solder the inductor back on.

Take readings with the tv off.
Then take readings with the tv on. This may take several on-off cycles. Since some of them will likely decay since the tv...

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

Agreed. It'll be powered up again in the morning. The unit is in the garage. The low is supposed to be around 39 degrees tonight. There's plenty of opportunity to let nature do the thermal...

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

I agree -- this series of TVs are notorious for failures.

It still works after 7 hours of running. No guarantees for longevity, but it'll be donated.

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

good call... i have a thin fan that may fit inside the chassis. I'll double check the clearance to the back cover though. If a fan were to be added, i'd like this to all be internal.

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

Agreed. I just updated post #4 with pics. I agree a proper fix is a reball, LG and authorized repair shops want an arm and a leg for a new main board. eBay "repair services" want ~$50 just not worth...

Re: LG 47LE5400-UC.AUSWLJR - no backlight; no DRV_ON signal

I heated up the main processor and surrounding board area with a heat gun. Works for now. I'll let this TV run for a few hours today and see how it goes. My other option is to stick it in the...

Re: Samsung Ln55b650t1f Part Identification

Also, what's the full service code number for this TV?

LN55B650T1Fxxx

Maybe LN55B650T1FXZA?

Re: Samsung Ln55b650t1f Part Identification

Can you get some good clear head on shots of the main board? Preferably in natural light - no flash.

Look at your meter. Turn it on and into resistance mode.

When you don't have the probes...
