maybe the desugn does not like long cables on the output that can act as inductors/antenna's and destabilise the feedback.

yes, there is a plug and socket or a atleast a junction-box for fixed / industrial stuff.
the supply side is "infrastructure" the thing connected is an "appliance"

different rules apply to each.

you should have 340v DC at the cap more or less.
the sound is probably the degausing coil around the edge of the crt.

i would think a couple of ohms with that wattage going through it would get very hot - besides, it's thick copper that probably has a much lower resistance than your test leads.

end equipment often has double-pole switching - it just makes sense once you understand that earth-neutral bonding cant be assumed.

what if it's an old building with earth on a gas-pipe or just...

i think that station that is actually from zhong-di uses the setup where the exposed ceramic element goes into the tip.

i have had an acer running 24/7 for several years - the main problem with acer is flimsy cases that crack if you flex them.

polymers are different btw, they are often 2-3.

check your fuses - the lamps should do something even if the cap was not fitted
