w/r/t the crown logo, I have seen many Trigem boards with dotted-logo caps. They are identical to known genuine Chemicons in all other respects.

I encountered a very similar psu (NLXAK not NLXAA) in a p2/350 sys at my former school. Its fan had failed, and there was burning and badcaps. I replaced it with a fortron instead of wasting...

Just my theory, it might have shorted out, and the intrinsic resistance been enough for it to flameout. I don't think polyester caps are low resistance.

Anyway, I ran an athlon-900 for 3 years on a generic sub-L&C quality 300w. Any instability was caused solely by motherboard...

YECCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even the worst PSU fail I've seen, Hipro with seized fan, didn't look nearly as bad as that!

Good pics, Zap! Bit perverted equating them to porn, though. (imho, don't kill me) The inline 6 pin connector was used on some p3 server and early P4 boards.

Yes. I had a CWT MAV-250P (Nspire brand) with Rubycon 330F 200v primaries, and Capxon secondaries iirc.

The heatsinks look to me like ChannelWell. Is there CWT on the main transformer?

Probably a combination of bad PSU and bad caps; a recap and good PSU would probably fix.
