Re: [HOWTO] Fix/Repair "Chassis Intruded Fatal Error System Halted" on Asus P5QL

It's been some time, finally making some progress with old projects here...

I found the diode, it tests fine. It comes after a resistor marked 01B (1Kohm) which tests fine. There is a 0.2V...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

Huh, PM? PW is supposed to be a miniaturized analog of PM.... That's not very reassuring. Don't they both use the same non-aqueous electrolyte?

It would be nice to use only LXZ, but NCC caps...

Re: Very old Sanyo OS-CONs. Safe to use?

I would certainly not use old OS-CON caps. They do in fact deteriorate. Just open it up and see for yourself. The polymer dielectric should be a moist, glossy black but you will often find in old...

Re: Capacitive dropper supplies not lasting

Very informative and constructive post Per! Just to make a small correction the cap you reference is Kemet, not EPCOS.

Re: Question about bipolar electrolytics

Someone on this forum mentioned once that they eventually become polarized.

Mr. Carlson on Youtube also has a video on how film caps really are actually polar caps.

I guess the only real...

Re: How to Recondition (Reform) Electrolytic Capacitors and Why

I bought an ESR meter kit based on an old design (ESR Go) so that I could proceed with this project. I started putting the kit together a while back (SMT soldering with a heat gun) and it came out...

Re: Hard Drive Power Supplies

Just a heads up...

Newer PSUs will (or should?) come with a four wire SATA power connector instead of the usual 5.

Pin 3, which was formerly used for 3.3V is now being used to signal power...

Re: BUDGET 4K graphics cards

I think the highest 3xxx AGP series card is faster than the 4670.

HDMI, no, but DisplayPort yes.

Re: BUDGET 4K graphics cards

You're completely right. Before they were swallowed up by AMD, they were the quaint, odd, eccentric company which you dabbled with, sometimes to your delight, and sometimes to your dismay.

Had a...

Re: Replacing Rubycon CE W with Rubycon YXF

What's wrong with using a Low-ESR cap after the bridge rectifier on a linear power supply?

Re: CH341a SPI / IC programmer

The shorter connectors with the fine pitch are also common in LCDs, and are often used as interconnects. I reckon a USB3 header cable would also be suitable.

You can also either take the leads...

Re: [HOWTO] Fix/Repair "Chassis Intruded Fatal Error System Halted" on Asus P5QL

I have a P5K-E that basically ignores the CMOS battery... If power is disconnected from the system completely, it loses all the BIOS settings. Is this also because of a weak transistor?

Thanks

Re: bios chip problem after 100% programmed using CH341A!

Re: bios chip problem after 100% programmed using CH341A!

I had the same problem with the W25Q128FWSQ.

I contacted the author of the software and he said that he was unable to test it because he didn't have the chip. I sent him a link on Taobao to buy...

Re: bios chip problem after 100% programmed using CH341A!

DIFFICULT WAY
You have to apt-get install dependencies first. Don't ask me what they are, I just did them on-the-fly, I don't remember.

Then you have to tell git to fetch from the latest...

Re: bios chip problem after 100% programmed using CH341A!

Weelcup -

Try flashrom in Linux. It usually succeeds where the Windows CH341A software fails. Make sure you pull the latest snapshot with git.

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

I've always disliked Intel, but for the past ten years, I'm really trying to understand what AMD has actually done for me? They're virtuous because they're the so-called competition to evil? Oh...

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

XP is still supported via PSOReady 2009 updates until April 2019.

Also:
