Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

Yes, the bridge rectifier is on the left and I would guess you're right about the switching transistor being on the far right heatsink. The diode next to the 24N60C3's on the middle heatsink does not...

Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

The middle heatsink is where the two 24N60C3's were replaced. The white things seem to be ceramic spacers allowing you to use a smaller package, or conversely by removing them allow you to use a...

Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

Oops I should have said pins 2-14-15-16 are tied to ground at pin 1.

I found this at Elektrotanya for a smaller Delta PS is it helpful ?

Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

I removed the riser board. Nothing is visually amiss with it. I can't find any information on the DNA1005A. There are dead shorts with pins 2-3-15-16 to ground but it looks like they're tied together...

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

Yes remember you can check the state of the ysus by running without both buffers and checking for the green light.

I find these older sets to be not worth repairing due to the cost of the...

Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

Ok I will try removing that riser card after first checking the outputs. It's giving me a bad vibe because it reminds me of an ipm module lol.

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

Yes, control board/logic board. No that would be rather uncommon to lose all those boards at the same time.

If you had a scope I suppose you could check the waveforms but I couldn't help you with...

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-65W850C Panel

The voltages are mostly unimportant as long as they rise or fall in a linear fashion if you plotted them on a graph.

Re: Dell D550p Not Starting

I'm sure something is still shorted. Not likely to be startup caps as the original fault caused the fuse to blow but I will heat them and see if that changes anything.

How do I check the secondary...

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

The presence of static in the pictures you posted makes me think you have problem still on your ysus. Where did you get this replacement board ?

The fact nothing changed when running the test...

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

Running the patterns bypasses the main board. If the patterns look good then you know your ysus/buffers are good and the main board is likely to blame.

If the patterns look bad then you still...

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

That's the one. Put an old hard drive jumper on it if you have one and disconnect the lvds cable from the main board then plug it in and check out the patterns.

Dell D550p Not Starting

This is from a Precision 470 and is my back up supply.

This was dead and had blown the fuse. Found a shorted 24N60C3 in what I think is the PFC circuit and replaced it and its companion for good...

Re: Samsung HPT5054....

You'll need to run the test patterns by jumpering two pads on the logic board - haven't a clue where they are I can't see them in your pic.

Maybe someone else can tell you or if not read some of...

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-65W850C Panel

I've only ever used two of those four inch cups from Harbor Freight and never had a problem. Spacing is important. If they're too close together the edges will flop around and if they're too far...

Re: My Hobby Light/Magnifier Stopped Working

I bought the same one you linked to and since LEDs have a habit of failing prematurely in many cases I paid $4 extra for the four year warranty.

Should get it Wednesday and can get back to the...

Re: My Hobby Light/Magnifier Stopped Working

I couldn't find the proper resistor in my parts bin but tried something a little larger in value and the lamp lit but after a few power cycles the resistor went high again. Instead of ordering a...

Re: My Hobby Light/Magnifier Stopped Working

I measured roughly 1.4 ohms to each side from the break so minus lead resistance should be somewhere around a 2.7 ohm resistor. That would make it Red Violet Gold Gold I suppose that's possible since...

Re: My Hobby Light/Magnifier Stopped Working

I see what you're saying bud. I didn't realize the resistive material was so close to the outside of the resistor. I would have thought it to be embedded deeper.

Re: My Hobby Light/Magnifier Stopped Working

I thought there was another band (five band) looks like an outline there but maybe you're right and it's just a four band.

I named the location of the resistor in my previous post, F1. You can see...
