Re: Microsoft Windows XP

I think you missed the point..... *IF* this flaw indeed affected S2K8 and/or win7, I'm sure there would be a patch for it if something like XP & S2K3 (years past EoL) got a patch for it....so the...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Given a LG 55" TV (55LE5400-UC) with the classic cracked solder under the processor on the main board. I did the oven reflow on it, which woke the backlight up, but it didn't cure it... I buzzed it...

Re: Microsoft Windows XP

if its an issue for win7 and s2k8 r2, there's no patches for it.... I only have one XP system left in my fleet, and its for running older software. Its access to the outside world is limited.

Re: First Timer - Mystery capacitor identification

It depends on what it's functions are. You'd be surprised the relics I repair with proprietary uses that would cost a hell of a lot more to replace than repair.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

This post created from this laptop. Maxed out CPU (Pentium-M 780 @ 2.26) and memory (2gb), and actually runs Win7 ok....not great, but ok. The biggest hangup is the 915G GPU, while I found a driver...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

It originally came with vista x86, I removed the COA prior to painting. It won't run x64, it only supports Yonah core CPU's, they're x86 only.... W7 x86 runs fine on it.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Re: Considering building a retro system

I've used them to test audio equipment (mainly head units) because they tend to have beefy +12v rails. You're 100% correct that AT PSU's are very useful outside the PC world!
