Re: EZ-Cool ATX-650JSP ATX PSU recap.

Well, all the non-OEM ones that I saw, are pulling from the +5V rail, like most PIII systems.

Only one exception for an OEM, oops, L O L

Why didn't the Asus A7V8X-X (Via KT400) (2003,...

Re: EZ-Cool ATX-650JSP ATX PSU recap.

Fun fact: All Asus socket 462 motherboards draw from the +5V rail.

I can't recall Asus ever going to +12V for socket 462, unlike Abit, and likely Gigabyte.
(A good chance that Epox switched to...

Re: Some "Vintage Iron" for you older PC guys

Is that a rare bird? (the CPU being located at the bottom right on a K6-2-supporting motherboard)

(I only saw the CPU on the bottom right with Pentium I motherboards, for the P54s and likely...

Re: Your Video Card Cooling Mods

Shit! I just got a complete system with a Gigabyte AM3 motherboard and a Radeon HD 6850. Also probably at least 8 GB of DDR3, for just $150! It's a PC bundle, because I couldn't get a good deal,...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

My socket 1366 monster is an Alienware Area 51, known for its unique case, and Alienware apparently, installed an Asus P6T Deluxe, which has the X58 chipset.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

QFT, my ROG socket 775 P45 chipset motherboard (Asus Maximus II Gene)is known to be solid with 8 GB of DDR2, even with mixed sticks!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

But, can it encode without the CPU throwing an internal timer error?

And the DDR3 thing, sounds just like the boat I was on, in 2014, and much of 2015, L O L

I have a problem, which I...

Re: Your Video Card Cooling Mods - PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI (GH84W0SPUE49P)

I think they're worthless for 2010s' standards, even way back in 2012, FFS!
They're basically only worth a shit in a Dell Dimension 2400 and the like, L O L :barf:

Re: Your Video Card Cooling Mods - PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI (GH84W0SPUE49P)

Interesting, because I saw bulging and oozing KZGs from a motherboard that was just sitting in a room, L O L. Looked like volcano vents on my 2004 Asus A7N8X-X motherboard, when just sitting!

Re: Can't connect laptop to hidden network

Sounds a lot like a bad cat. cable. Is that with wifi? If everything otherwise looks fine, then I would do a real-deal fresh reinstall of the OS! If it's with wifi, run a command prompt as...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Oh shit! I now wished I still have at least one of my CRT monitors, at least the Dell one that I had... I last used a CRT monitor in 2015, IIRC.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Looks like that system was made before Core 2s came out and probably before AM2 came out. Looking at 2004, 2005 or earlier-to-mid-2006.

Re: Wireless access points and Local Network IPv6 State

That's what it looks like, even in the late-2010s! So IPv4 definitely isn't dead!
It's even less likely to be dead for a good while, because of program compatibility! Halo CE has a strong fan-base...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Gee! Even my LG 49UH6100, isn't that bad with the factory settings, IIRC.

To me, your symptoms scream the backlight being too high! If not an overdriven array of backlight LEDs!

And that...

Re: Panasonic viera th-l32c22m

You mean CCFL backlight? There's no such thing as an "LED TV" unless it's an OLED. LCDs are all backlit and later LCDs have an LED backlight array in place of CCFLs, because of people freaking out...

Re: Recommendations: Portable laptop/tablet for texas hot auto shop environment

The problem with DDR2 is, that 8 GB may be unstable, even at factory frequencies and latencies, without bumping the VDIMM to 1.90 V.
