I don't know....they're supposed to be the experts at writing drivers for their products.....not me. It's pathetic that I even had to figure this out...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Here's afew of it apart when I repaired the CRT interface. I blew the dust...

AMD / ATI A8-6410 with R5 Graphics - GPU gives Code 43

I knew there was a reason I hated ATI & AMD.....such shitty driver support. This is a SoC A8 6410 with R5 graphics on an ITX board. I've tried a dozen different drivers in win7 & S2K12 R2 (win8.1...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

A couple honorable mentions from this haul.....of course (for Momaka) the 19" (18"viewable) Hitachi CM771. I had to reflow some solder on the CRT interface board, and after that, solid as a rock!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

My rounds consisted of 3x C2D era towers, 3x LCD monitors, and the pick of the litter a beige 19" hitachi CRT monitor with a flat Triniton tube in working condition. It runs 1600x1200 so nicely! :D

Re: Topcat's Weird Pentium Pro Builds

VCORE is not adjustable on these.

I never got to the point of running prime95....the OS was never stable enough to worry about it. It will be fun to play with the overdrives though. :D Digging...

Re: Topcat's Weird Pentium Pro Builds

Did some more diddling around, found a spec sheet that Intel never published for this board with some 'undocumented jumper settings'. First one was the multiplier, which 'officially' only goes to...

Re: This is Why You NEVER Ignore Bad Capacitors!

I'm not sure where you're getting them, but they're nowhere to be found with my regular haunts.

Re: Topcat's Weird Pentium Pro Builds

There was a different FPU bug that affected the p-pro.

I think I may have found a pair of Overdrives.....still working on it though. :D

Re: XBOX V1.6 with bad caps

It's basically an adapter that allows a Tualatin to be run in a system board intended for a coppermine. There were a lot of companies that made these back in the day....but I never knew there was an...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

That is a rotten shame. 4:3 LCD's in that size & resolution are RARE! Whoever did that deserves a fist to the nose for that.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I thought the same thing at quick glance at the POST screen.....but when I looked, it turned out to be an e7300; 2.66/1066fsb C2D....darnit!

I put one under the magnifier (the print is small), and...

I believe you are correct. I'll have to dig one out of the garbage to be sure, but I think they are.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Computer is done & working. Latest BIOS on it and reloaded. Not going to upgrade it unless I find something laying around....I'll just re-home it as it is, clean install of Win7.

Re: Looks like Panasonic will halt all LCD manufacturing by 2021!

I can see why.....this stuff is way too cheap & way too throw-away on the consumer market.... Why build high end panels (anything panasonic is always 'top drawer') when the cheap ass panels are the...

Re: Just when you thought polymers gave a PC eternal life! - The GX745 SFF Calamity!

I employ the same rule as well. It's saved me lots of headaches for sure! Unless I come across another GX745, I likely won't try this....This system isn't worth spending another $10 on...lol

Re: Just when you thought polymers gave a PC eternal life! - The GX745 SFF Calamity!

Given that a Q6600 will run, logic tells me the BIOS has the correct microcode....the only difference between the CPU's is the multiplier is one digit higher....but I could be wrong/you could be...
