The control board is powered by a conventional linear psu since the reset / shutdown is highly predictable and not what the client described I feel it is unlikely the problem to be supply related....

Nearly all the parts I use for MBP repairs either come from scrap main boards (when I can find them) or are ordered from various trusted ebay sellers.
