you might try totally disconnecting the power supply from the boards (and backlights), then plug in and check things at the PSU. Then potentially, try some work around for the "wire fuse" and do...

IF the picture of the tab that is shown is how you powered up the set at the time, it is possible that the "half removal" was not a good idea. It should have been totally disconnected.
