Re: Samsung 2693HM - Doesn't turn on (no standby)

I second what CapLeaker asked, and also to affirm that yes, checking the main filter cap is the first step in troubleshooting power problems.
But it is not necessary if you do have secondary...

Re: BIOS Chip question

I would not just blindly count on it, see for example this:

7.1.9 Quad Enable (QE) Volatile/Non-Volatile Writable
The Quad Enable (QE) bit is a non-volatile read/write bit in the status...

Re: BIOS Chip question

Hunt for datasheets, it will be in them.
But I did not find one with a quick search ending in "EQ" at all, so are you sure about that?

Re: Fake KZE 680uf 16v?

Also notice in the eBay AD there is a date on the pictured shipping box: 27/11/2005
This matches the "5 N F (3)" UCC date code (http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/Chemi-con/UCC%20DATE%20DECODE.pdf) of...

Re: 4700uF 6.3v and 3300uF 16v in a 10mm Diameter

Anything with a high switching frequency I mean, it was designed for low ESR capacitors.

Re: Can I substitute these capacitors on a D865PERL motherboard?

Nichicon VR is a general purpose capacitor (all 85C caps are).
It is therefore better to stay closer to the originals spec and just go up to 105C temp rating.
Panasonic NHG or Chemi-Con KMG would...

Re: 4700uF 6.3v and 3300uF 16v in a 10mm Diameter

Yea I would also not use KMG in a modern PSU, General Purpose caps do not belong there.

Re: Fwiw: Apc ups

I didn't know you had access to the APC source code.

I think you mentioned elsewhere that you do not buy original batteries from APC.
That is good because they are crap and have a lifetime of 2...

Re: Remote pump control ideas.

^^Well if you do please use CODE tags in your post, so the formatting is not lost.
I added them to your post #48, looks much prettier at least ;)

Re: Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

budm: Thanks for that link, yes I understood why you where after the center tap point.

redwire: It did not trip a pressure switch, the motor was operating ok-ish pumping coolant liquid albeit at...

Re: Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

No, the motor manufacturer designed this a bit strange:
In the input terminal box are just two wires (plus earth) with spade connectors that you put the incoming single phase on.
Then in the...

Re: Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

Thank you budm that was a very short and concise answer that really explained it well for me!
I should have understood it intuitively since I know a motor acts as a generator when speeding down.
It...

Re: Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

The capacitor in my last post is the dead one that was in the unit.
I showed another picture of it being measured by my Fluke in the OP reading 0.4nF...

Re: Modern Samxon and Teapo caps much better these days?

I would say no, for example Samxon (Man Yue) is based in China.
But both CapXon and Fuhjyyu are based in Taiwan.
I would rate Samxon a few notches above those two!

Re: Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

Thanks sam_sam_sam but that capacitor at 1.75" (45mm) width is the same as the used CSC capacitor I already squeezed in there.
In this case since it is a liquid coolant pump the capacitor can not be...

Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

(TL;DR skip the first paragraph)
I encountered my first dead motor run capacitor at a customer this week.
For some fields I guess it is a very common occurrence but the usual way for industrial...

Re: Need Help with Roland SC-88 Pro distorted sound!

That is a bit strange, the fact that you can use line-in with no noise means the problem is not in the analog audio output stage.
So it must be something that goes wrong in the MIDI decoding stage...

Re: Blown component identification - EVGA 1000 GQ

You can try once without it: the same will happen if the PSU is switched off and on quite fast:
Then the NTC will not have time to cool down so it will be low resistance and thus the caps charge up...

Re: Blown component identification - EVGA 1000 GQ

Yes it is a NTC thermistor to limit inrush current when the capacitors charge up from being off for some time.
It is then bypassed by the relay next to it to increase efficiency.
The value is not...
