it looks like if the gate resistor is a different value so is the one that goes to ground ..

on your pic of underside of the board rectifier is bottom right . 4 pins .

whatever happened to it i wonder ?
i see traces ripped off or burned off . solder short . mica insulators in the wrong places . bodged in wires .

not sure without seeing the circuit diagram .
one pin might go straight to the battery or through not many components . battery should have +- on it .

see if you can measure any voltage . a few mv.s even should say which is positive and negative .

hard to say but at a guess it is 5v same as usb . what voltage is on the pins ?
