Yes it is BGA, but even if you had a rework station, obtaining a similar chip + programming it would probably outweigh the price/effort of a new board entirely. Common fault, not worth bothering IMO.

Nope - flash IC is the NAND flash. The square chip right above the optical connectors if I'm not mistaken.

Pfftt...it got even better: just yesterday I was strolling through a mall and found the Li-Ion version of this Electrolux ErgoRapido, exactly the same vac on the outside, for almost the same price...

The OZ CCFL IC is a SOB to bypass the protection on...at least I personally couldn't do it, so I too would be interested how this all works out in the end - always a learning experience here on BC :D...

In the 900m type, what's the difference between T-IS and T-S tips ? Google shows both of them are curved and the one I have is a T-S, still curved. The IS variant appears sharper and thinner ?

UPDATE: here's the IC at last: a MC9s08sh8, so it's like a "computer" in there, making the job even harder, since it's likely going to do "UVLO" if he tries to modify just the incoming adapter...
