ASUS ROG G750JY MB G750JZ REV 2.0 IT8585 dump file, tested

I know these are really hard to come by so here you go. Taken from a WORKING machine after repair, this board had a fairly unusual fault, but one that was easily repaired.

Flash has been read with...

Re: Hp Dv9310us no UUID or ser. number in bios

UUID and serial number missing is just a cosmetic issue. No MAC address on the LAN card, you can fix that in device manager, search for any tutorial "how to change mac address device manager" and you...

Re: SAMSUNG UN55JU6500F sound cuts out if too loud

That is a very good explanation indeed. I have been worried about this too at some point - but i've freeze sprayed enough sensitive components already, and never damaged anything. Never bothered to...

Re: Samsung UN60EH600 UN55EH6000 Identical Problem

Oh come on. A $100 hot air station and a $20 flux can are all you need. And the flux will be good for 1 year if you keep it in a cold place.

Re: Panasonic TH-50AX800F. rainbow screen-Power supply board issue ?

Not power supply. Mainboard or Tcon fault, leaning towards Tcon. Agreed with the above member, show us some pictures of the boards inside the TV.

Re: Hp Dv9310us no UUID or ser. number in bios

I have NBDMIFIT that will work with that, but agreed with the other members, that is a sign of the nVidia MCP failing. I am actually surprised it has held up this long, perhaps it has only been used...

Re: Tascam us-2x2 blown inputs (noise on signal) help

It may be that the DAC got damaged. I blew a mike input on a DV9000 many years back because of the same thing. Internal microphones still worked, but one got hissy and distorted, likely the same as...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

I have original Hakko tips - they are just as bad as the knockoffs, so i buy Gordak branded ones for them, makes no difference.

Pro tip: it'll heat up a lot faster and hold heat better if you cut...

Re: Samsung UN60EH600 UN55EH6000 Identical Problem

You have your multimeter probes swapped. :D Anyway, your readings show the Tcon fuse is good.

Re: LG TV (model coming soon) with ALL LEDs dead ?!

You have shorted LEDs in all strings or maybe PCB damage on the strips, so the strips most likely need replacement. Doubtful it would be caused by the PSU of the TV, they're just overdriven from the...

Re: Sony Bravia KDL52W5100....two thin pink lines that go away

It could have been reset. Since there are just 2 lines you could try putting a piece of rubber or plastic to put pressure on the affected tab, will have it going for a few months at least.

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Buying a genuine Hakko T12 handle (they are available as spare parts), a couple tips and adapting this to a cheapo Chinese soldering station that uses the 900M tips has been on my to-do list for a...

Re: Alienware LA-C912p Issues

These laptops (along with most, if not all other Dells) automatically throttle the CPU down to minimum if the power adapter is not detected properly. You may have a problem in the adapter cable or...

Re: Retina Pro 820-3476 Low PPBUS_G3H

You need to also connect the ground wire to the ground of the board (obviously), but it sounds like you already did that.

Yes, do replace L4807, it could be that it got damaged. These ferrite...

Re: Retina Pro 820-3476 Low PPBUS_G3H

In this particular case, you can use an ATX power supply and pull power from a 3.3V wire off of that. Since the short is on a 5 volt rail, this should be reasonably safe.

Re: Retina Pro 820-3476 Low PPBUS_G3H

Experience. :D

There are two ways to check for shorts. One is to have a really fancy multimeter with a very high resolution on DC resistance, and then you would scan the rail until you get to the...

Since you don't use it often, you can recap that with parts pulled off from other boards. That way you will not waste money. :)

Re: Samsung SyncMaster T220 weird flickering

It does sound like bad capacitors, they sometimes regain part of their capabilities once warmed up. This will not last long until they fail for good.

Re: HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab127ca (Touch)

Hardware issue with either the EC or the thermal sensor and associated circuitry. Could be due to liquid damage.

Re: LG TV stopped working.

A large, low voltage MCU is one thing, a small, low powered power supply regulator which has a Vcc of 10s of volts is another. They have different failure modes. I should have been more specific. :)
