Re: BSOD and Gigabyte Capacitors

Thats a slight cause for concern, but nowhere near as drastic a capacitance increase as the bad datecode Nichicon HM and HN (and TK ATWY and ATWB, in my experience - Samyoung NXC too). Those KZG may...

Re: BSOD and Gigabyte Capacitors

So KZG are prone to failing high capacitance / high leakage current in your experience, like bad Nichicon HM, HN, HZ, and Suncon WF? In my experience, most KZG (and KZJ) just go open circuit when...

Re: ASUS A7M266 Kills T-Bred B??

The early Fujitsu polymers are failure prone. Back in the day, it was initially conjectured that it was because of insufficient rubber seals allowing moisture ingress which resulted in a steady...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2

I have some Newton Power 250Ws with only ~280F total bulk capacitance on the input (560F 200V x2 in series), and after unplugging the PSU, motherboard LED stays lit for about 30 seconds so that...

Re: BSOD and Gigabyte Capacitors

Nichicon HM/HN/HZ made after 2005 should be fine. Those made before 2006 and especially before 2005 are very failure prone. Sanyos (Suncon) WF series is rather failure prone (so I doubt the PSU was...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2

I think the datecode on that fan (“0525E”) actually means May of 2000 or so. Looking at this same fan model (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=10273&d=1243981170) from an old...

Re: Swapping japanese/generic electrolythics with solid-states

Sometimes the rubber stand-off used for the bungs is crimped in such a way that it stands out “more” (I’ve seen such a rubber bung “look” on some Nichicon PWs before, yet they tested fine and haven’t...

Re: Dell Precision 490 Motherboard

If two of the six have bulged, the other four may not be far behind. Any capacitor can fail without symptoms, so preemptive replacement is sound.

Re: Dell Precision 490 Motherboard

Sanyo’s (Suncon) WF series is failure prone, especially whilst under thermal duress. It’s debatable that heat killed them, but KZJ is a known dud series too and have also failed in these toasty...

Re: XFX GeForce 8600 GT [PV-T84J-UDD3 V5.0] recap information and shenanigans

I told you using Nichicon HZ and HN with 2005 datecodes was risky, didnt I? :lolsign: Out of all your Xbox 360 stock caps, you should have gone with 2700F 6.3V Rubycon MFZ instead (if you have any...

Re: FSP400-60GLN worth fixing?

The worst storage bulger by far is KZG (as far as Japanese ultra low ESR caps go), especially the 6.3V variants. KZJ comes close though (the 10mm diameter 6.3V variants), as might Sanyo/Suncon WF...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Even counterfeits and low quality caps can test within spec whilst new, though. Element14 still seem to have Nichicon HM in stock. Nichicon announced the discontinuation of the HM, HN, and HZ series...

Re: FSP400-60GLN worth fixing?

So you’re saying they didn’t bulge or leak but that they silently died? I don’t doubt that the oxide film deteriorates in storage and must be restored using the proper precautions (applying the rated...

Re: FSP400-60GLN worth fixing?

Did you try to install them “backwards” on a motherboard whose polarity markings were backwards (the + sign on the shaded half of the polarity circle)? Of course something like that would be obvious,...

Re: FSP400-60GLN worth fixing?

Ick, that doesn’t sound good at all. What were the series and datecodes of the Rubycons that failed, and the capacitance / voltage values? Maybe they needed to be reformed properly, or they were...

Re: Xbox 360 caps keep failing

Sorry for the belated reply. That is the cap further down the board, (on revision 2.0 of Xenon motherboards and later), under the extended GPU heatpipe heatsink. Using the 16V rated polymers I...

Re: General causes of SMD Capacitor Faults on PC

I'm not sure brand matters that much when it comes to polymer, ceramic, and tantalum capacitors - there doesn't seem to be an unending "plague" of sorts in that regard. I would (obviously) avoid...

Re: Help to identify surface mount capacitor

Could they have been Nichicon UWF (http://www.nichicon.co.jp/english/products/pdfs/e-uwf.pdf) or Nichicon UWT (http://www.nichicon.co.jp/english/products/pdfs/e-uwt.pdf) too? UWF and UWG are...

Re: Some Good News: YEC No Longer Makes Electrolytic Capacitors

In defense of the super caps mentioned above, they’re only rated for 1,000 hours at 70C - many of the plague capacitors of that timeframe touted thousand of hours at 105C, but none actually lived...

Re: Xbox 360 caps keep failing

The reason for using higher capacitance and higher voltage capacitors with larger case sizes on the output of a CPU or GPU buck regulator is to achieve an overall lower impedance rating and greater...

For the caps you listed, those should work without issue.

The suggested caps in my previous post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=804588&postcount=19) should work fine.

Re: Xbox 360 caps keep failing

Well, most of the ultra-low impedance electrolytics have been discontinued and are very difficult if not impossible to source. eBay mostly sells fakes so sadly thats not much of an option either....
