Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

Sorry for the delay, but here are pictures from a US supply for Heihachi_73.

I replaced the bulging smaller cap on left middle and the power supply works like a charm, can't same the same for the...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

Spitz, thank you. The question is what does re-flow mean. Just heating up the current solder to let it flow again, i.e., reflow? Or does it mean to remove the old and then flow new solder to...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

My suction pump has some issues, but between that and a squeeze bulb, plus wick. Rubber? These things have Teflon nose pieces to handle the heat, rubber would just melt. Or are you suggesting heat...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

stj, thank you. Seems reasonable, but if sludge is a potential problem then it seems you need to clean pads completely. Is that correct? I find it near impossible to remove all (or too many time...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

spitz, for a neophyte can you explain further. Regarding re-solder, are you suggesting reflowing the solder present or removing and resoldering?

As I mentioned, I did get the power supply working...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

japlytic, I don't understand the question.

I was given the Wii and I described what happened when I tried to fire it up. I appreciate the advice, which seems good; however, not really looking to...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply

Thanks Fenugrec,

No harm in trying the switch and part shouldn't be too expensive to try. Other caps look fine, but if it doesn't come to life I will try them as well.

Nintendo Wii power supply

I received a Wii that when plugged in the red light comes on the system, which I believe means the unit is seeing power. As I understand pushing the power button on the unit then powers it on and...

Re: Sharp LC-50LB481U Backlight problem

These TVs are a little big to work on indoors and it is raining today so i should be able to get to it tomorrow. This is probably a stupid question, but i just want to make sure I understand...

Re: Sharp LC-50LB481U Backlight problem

I redid the CN9102 readings with a different meter, attached pdf shows the results. Pretty much the same except DIM goes from 3.3 to 2.5 V. As i understand it, PS On should change voltage when the...

Re: Sharp LC-50LB481U Backlight problem

Why would shorted LED cause a fire, why not put a fuse in the circuit?

Re: Visio M470VT

RJ, I agree and wasn't looking to repair/replace the screen. My question is if this is a screen issue only or if boards are also bad. I don't want to be trying to sell boards that don't work. It...

Visio M470VT

I have the above TV. The attached photo shows the screen. Top center shows a crack to the screen, but I am not sure if all the lines are related to the crack or the result of a bad video board. ...

Re: Sharp LC-50LB481U Backlight problem

I assume that if one dead LED kills all video, then they are wired in series. What is the reason for this? Why not wire the LEDs so on the dead one is off?

Sharp LC-50LB481U Backlight problem

I have one of the stated TVs. It powers on fine, but has no viewable picture. Sound is there and if you shine a light on the screen you can see the video content. Thus there is a problem with the...

Re: How to Recondition (Reform) Electrolytic Capacitors and Why

Further to this discussion, it appears that for anything with electrolytic caps that haven't been used in some years would benefit from first powering on with 60 watt bulb. How about tube devices? ...

Re: How to Recondition (Reform) Electrolytic Capacitors and Why

Momaka, am I correct in understanding that the light bulb places some additional resistance on the device so as to charge caps more slowly and thus limiting them blowing out? It that is the case...

Re: Samsung PN42C450 B1DXZA Doesn't Power On

I got the transistors and tried to remove the blown ones, but can't seem to get them out. I am using an inexpensive 30 W iron and the solder doesn't seem to melt. I have tried adding fresh solder,...

Re: How to Recondition (Reform) Electrolytic Capacitors and Why

But if you really wanted to be extra careful with it, you can just attach a 60-100 Watt incandescent light bulb in series with the line plug.

I am assuming this should be in series on the hot...
