Re: ESR meter upgrades

Thanks man.

I suppose I'd use 10-20nF and just TP1 + TP3 just in case, not like it's a big deal, just my curiosity and wanting precise info. :) I do have some used inductors I've not been able to...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

The readme says:
-
you also need a good stable capacitor between 10 and 30nF to calibrate the new small inductor mode.
if you dont have one, just ignore the cal message till it times-out

Re: ESR meter upgrades

There is a difference between freq stability and freq tolerance. 10ppm tolerance doesn't mean 10ppm stability. I've seen some say 10ppm tolerance with 30ppm stability. I presume stability relates to...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

I'd like a bit of clarity on the serial port. Is that for adding a USB port or? I'm just curious. I recall some earlier versions of the TTester had USB possible. How was that used with a PC? Is it...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Ok. I'm not going for the xtal upgrade yet and I'm at SVN630 for now. I haven't had any need to test xtals or resonators but it'd be fun anyway I suppose.

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Is there any advantage to using a 16MHz over the 8MHz other than for crystal/resonator testing?

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Very cool, thanks much. :) I haven't updated since I got mine going, been dealing with other non-tech matters lately. I really appreciate the time and energy you put into this project. I know you dig...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Well, I figured you did but what I mean is I want to know more about what you've changed because I'm more curious than can be satisfied with "something vague" as a change description.

Re: ESR meter upgrades

That oughta be doable but I think you'd need a 4th test lead configured so you can flash the led side with two leads and check the conductivity of the phototrans side with two in order to preserve...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Coolness. Look forward to it. The included cable is 8" long BTW. :)

I'd like to add a helpful tip for adding the rotary control, tin the cut/bent center pin and where you scratch off the lacquer...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

:duh:

Jeez, I was thinking about the cable included, not the programmer board connector! My mind slips gears sometimes. Thanks for filling in a blank for me.

I'm pretty well set then, I've got...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

But the 10 pin needs to be male, I've only seen female idc. Got a pic of your adapter?

Edit: nevermind, I looked one up. I honestly have never seen one before.

Yes indeed. I figured that...

I just got my rotary control in the mail today. :) Programmer should be here soon too.

What did you use to make the 10-6 pin adapter?

I'm gonna mount the 6-pin header on the top of the board...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

I'm a little fuzzy on the rotary vs test switch, how do you activate a test without the test switch?
