Re: Toshiba c840 not charging battery when power on

It's normal for the diode to heat up a bit under high load, 0.5V voltage drop across the diode with 4A is 2W, so yes it'll make it heat up a bit. I see flux around there so make sure the diode is the...

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y510P - no SUSP_SLP signals

Not even a small pulse on SLP_S5#/SLP_S4#? The SLP_ signals come from the PCH.
Check 32kHz RTC clock, SRTCRST, RTCRST, INTVRMEN, INTRUDER#, DSWVRMEN, SLP_SUS#, BATLOW#
Make sure the S5 rails are...

Re: Wich power supply to find a short circuit on the mobo?

I'm using DPS8005 on a 80V 5A "LED power supply". I like it, but it's a DIY solution where you have to do you own wiring and chassis for it (not that hard but not as easy and usable out of the box as...

Re: ASUS ROG G751JM - self start and no VCORE and VGPU

I think TON is supposed to be somewhat low.
The regulator got input voltage and enable signal, but doesn't start switching at all. It is probably bad.
Do a visual inspection of the circuit around...

Re: ASUS ROG G751JM - self start and no VCORE and VGPU

No schematics for newer Asus. Last one available is UX31A2 AFAIK.
You're missing ALL_SYS_PWRGD so there's at least one S0 rail missing before VCore.

You measure 0V on +1.05VS_PWRGD so the issue...

Re: Apple macbook a1278 820-2936 need some help

PRAM reset done? (I guess it won't respond if it's not even doing RAM beeps without RAM — assuming speakers are plugged in —)
PLTRST# at 3.3V?
Any activity on BIOS? (oscilloscope on CS# with...

Re: 820-3437 loud FAN - Liquid spill

No light: DC-in board itself, its cable or the connector on the motherboard (may have damaged pins or pins that became unsoldered) most likely. If that doesn't solve it it could be related to the...

Re: ga-h61m-s2pv restart .

15 doesn't ring any bell but I think 53 is usually related to RAM.
Try with other compatible RAM sticks.
Check and clean RAM slots.
Check for any broken pin in the CPU socket.
Make sure CPU is...

Re: Asus X550CC switch?

If it did switch on and worked it may indeed be related to BIOS or EC. I'd start by flashing the BIOS, then if the EC firmware is not integrated into the BIOS, flash the EC firmware.
If there is no...

Re: Is it really the NEC/Tokin ?

It is very often the issue but when it fails it's usually not so sudden. It will start to be unstable on AC power and refuses to boot. Usually it works better on battery only.
No harm in replacing...

I didn't understand what the question or the problem is, but 1.7V on Haswell (or Broadwell) is perfectly fine.

Re: Asus P6T won t boot in Bios!

I think you meant "should *not* kill anything".

87C won't do anything to those CPU, except maybe making them unstable if overclocked indeed.

First try a clear CMOS.

Also I'm not sure how...

Re: Apple macbook pro 820-2936 VD0R - dc in rail 0 sensor above limit. Please help!!

SMC_DCIN_VSENSE should read around 2.75V (2.79V is ok) with a 60W charger. With an 85W charger it may read around 3.1V and that would trigger the error, it's normal. A 60W charger should not trigger...

Re: Clevo N150SD powers on for 10 secs

Even the "better" programmers won't work well with SOIC clips… I stopped trying and I desolder the chip everytime. (even providing external power doesn't help in some cases)

If you have VCore and...

Re: Asus x55a no power or bootup

B+ rail is present so nothing to troubleshoot around charger IC, it's working fine.
Time to check the LDO outputs of the 3V/5V regulator.

Re: Advice for HP Compaq Presario CQ50

This may not have a defective revision of the NVidia MCP. So try to flash the BIOS first, and if it doesn't work take a picture of the die of the MCP.

Re: How to trick Apple Macbook Pro to work with aftermarket charger :-)

Yes you only need the cable and connect + and - of PSU set to 18.5V. The identification chip is inside the tip of the cable.
Use a cable that come from a 85W Magsafe, it'll be compatible with all...

Re: Problem on a Buck Converter for CPU_Core

PEC7 getting hot is not very normal but it could be from the heat of Q6.

Q6 getting hot is normal. It shouldn't get insanely hot, but may still burn your finger under load (can get above 50C,...
