Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

The 466-103-9 makes sense, I see the usual format on the bottom (international format)

And the 2N1136A looks like different type of format, without the usual four characters. Reminds me of Intel,...

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

Yes! Those round ones are what I were thinking about! The one on the upper right 2012? (Or is that just another way of saying that it's the third year of a previous decade, such as 1992 or 1982?)

Re: Post your system.......

The regular OCCT test, (not using Linpack) is a joke in my experience, IIRC, it would run for an hour and pass, but the Linpack test still failed.

And my Q6600 was one of the worst ones, (a 2008...

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

Is that package rare now? Looks like it was possibly much more the usual back in the 1980s.

And for the group home FACP, I honestly thought that it was possibly the trouble buzzer, for when a...

Re: Post your system.......

I suspect that 3.0 Ghz only requires default Vcore (but could require a bump to compensate for the Vdroop) I'm spoiled by my Asus socket 775 motherboards, for having CPU load line calibration, which...

Re: Alieware M17x R3 is mean

Ironically, that storahci.sys bug, seems more likely to happen on Windows 10 with an SSD, than with a spinner!

And without even reading any posts, it did look like to me that it was more likely to...

Re: Alieware M17x R3 is mean

Heads up, looks like Windows 10, has a nasty ATA driver bug, particularly with Windows 10's storahci.sys. It causes the same symptoms:

Windows taking forever to open an item and when that happens,...

Re: GA-H77-DS3H RAM problem

I don't know which one I suspect needs to be charged to avoid the "double-boot" thing that Gigabyte motherboards are known for. (at least the later AMD platforms)

Every time it gets unplugged (or...

Re: Wiped critical info from bios HELP!!

The BIOS shouldn't be on the hard drive! We're not talking about 1980s or some 1990s systems, where you can't get into the BIOS without a drive, by hitting a key.

Reminds me of an old system I had...

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

Where? All I saw, except for the caps, what looks like diodes on the PCB, what look like heatsinked diodes or resistors and what looks like a round magnet with a thin heatsink around it. Was it that...

Re: GA-H77-DS3H RAM problem

I suspect a bad cap somewhere. That symptom is just like the normal thing I get with my Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3HP motherboard, when the PSU was unplugged and discharged, then plugged back in the wall. ...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

That CPU is awesome! But I'm afraid the Asus P6T Deluxe won't have support for it. :(

Re: Replacing 8 Caps on motherboard and 2 on PSU - which ones are good replacements?

Yes, KZG-series on 2004 motherboards (or near there) really suck. On my 2004 Asus A7N8X-X, (basically just a stripped A7N8X-E Deluxe with most OC'ing features still there)
At least 6 of them were...

Re: Asus P6T won t boot in Bios!

87 C should kill anything unless that was with a CPU core OC and a CPU core overvolt.

IIRC, OC'ing and overvolting the Vcore, can change the characteristics of the CPU and make it less tolerant...

Re: Could my TV be frying my consoles?

Neutral=Overvoltage on one leg and undervoltage on the other leg.

You should measure the voltages of different wall outlets though your household.

And one of the symptoms to look for:

Re: Problem with Dell Inspiron 530S Cannot do dual channel, even with matched RAM

Well, in the mid-2010s, IIRC, it randomly started working correctly again and had yet to see that issue again. But I don't have it anymore, because when I moved in 2016, it got transported to a...
