Re: Win7 Chrome Support May End July 2021

You mean Firefox? :p: Because as far as I know, that is the only other browser competitor to Chrome. Sure there are other out there, but they are all either based on Chrome's or Mozilla's engine....

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

That green stuff is corrosion from the leads, suggesting either electrolyte has done it or something else when the capacitor was cleaned.

I've seen this quite a bit on old Nichicon PR series...

Re: How to remove heatsinks from BGA chips?

If it's thermal epoxy, it should weaken when frozen.
Try deep-freezing, then pry apart with a sharp razor blade or knife.

Although heat doesn't weaken thermal epoxy, I've had good luck with...

Re: Need a circuit that switches ON when a 5 volt source drops to 4 volts or less

If you are working with voltage detections above 2.5V and need a quick and easy way to accomplish this use:
431 current shunt ;)

(i.e. TL431, KA431, AS431... and etc.)

It's the easiest (IMO)...

Re: How to take apart fans to oil them?

Probably a sealed fan.

You CAN open those, but it's a bit complicated. I've shot a few videos of how to do it to show friends, but never uploaded the videos on any website.

Before even...

Re: Corsair Gs 600 Gaming Series PSU help

The resistance readings for the fuse should not "jump" at all. You should get a solid LOW resistance reading, instead. Low, as in whatever your meter can display on the lowest resistance scale...

Re: Party light no longer bright

LEDs tend to burn out like this: they get dimmer and dimmer until they no longer light up.

That doesn't necessarily means it's the LEDs fault. While it is possible that the LEDs are cheap quality,...

Re: Msi z97-g43

I can't seem to find a datasheet either. But looking at images on eBay, it looks either to be a regulator of some sort or a MOSFET... or less possibly, a controller for a VRM.

Are there thick...

Re: DFI Lanparty NF4 939 Problem

Concur with the two posts above me.

Tried re-seating all hardware first (CPU, RAM, etc.) several times, as that tends to "clean" the contacts good enough most of the time. If issue persists,...

Re: ASus A7N8X-LA - Powers on, but no boot (solved)

If I am not mistaken, this board has an nVidia nForce 2 chipset. Although fairly reliable, I do remember reading some posts on here that said even nForce 2 chipsets can fail in a similar way that the...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Today's score:
BIG box of TDK 15V, 7A, open-frame PSUs. Forgot to pickup the box from the shop when I left today. Hope it doesn't get thrown out tomorrow, as I won't be going there. But will...

Re: Quadro K2100m smd caps

Those are SMD multi-layer ceramic caps (MLCC). But just call them ceramic caps for simplicity. :)

Anyways, as far as specs... I would >guesstimate< they are rated for around or under 1 uF...

Re: Not Even BCN's Russia Connections Can Top This One - Supermicro S2DGU Build

I like that touch at the end: "I just bought new ones and stored these away". Most people would have just thrown them away. Only a true tech >saves< broken stuff and then tries to fix/thinker/use it...

Re: HiPro HP-P3017F3 rev:03 [Dell H057N] - capacitor repair

Probably a little bit of both.
I think the 350W version of this PSU is very similar, if not identical on the primary side. And I've never heard the fan ramp up on these PSUs, even when I run them in...

Post HiPro HP-P3017F3 rev:03 [Dell H057N] - capacitor repair

PSU Recapping time! :)

This is the same HiPro model HP-P3017F3 PSU detailed here (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=935767&postcount=3061). Only created this thread to make the...

Re: Corsair 750W SemiMOD

That's normal for when the APFC is not running (i.e. PSU outputting only 5VSB).

It's LOW for when the APFC >IS< running (i.e. when you try to turn ON the PSU). Should be around 375-385V DC. If...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Got a bunch of computer stuff from Craigslist last week, all advertised as non-working / bad / for repair. All the stuff were free, but I wanted to make it a little more worthwhile for the guy, so I...

Re: Not Even BCN's Russia Connections Can Top This One - Supermicro S2DGU Build

But you are missing the point, though - the idea was to have a retro PC build with components mostly from the same era. ;) And TC did a great job with that.

As to hooking old stereo system to a...

Re: AT power supply help

Or just sleeve it with heatshrink. ;)

I also advise you always test AT PSUs with a good load - especially on the 5V rail. Some AT PSUs won't like it or work properly without at least 1 Amp of load...

Re: The 2020 Operating System Thread

Re: Not Even BCN's Russia Connections Can Top This One - Supermicro S2DGU Build

Damn nice!

Graphics look pretty decent too, even for today. In fact, no more primitive than Minecraft... which takes a quad core PC with decent graphics to run - what a hog! (Then again,...

Yes, water will always find a way in through cracks and crevices.
I imagine the PSU is -not- enclosed in a tight water-proof box. If it...
