Dish Hopper 3 DVR. Pulled it apart, slammed the drive into a dock, found ~500GB of TV recordings, all unencrypted and watchable.

HP Pavilion 500 (with failing 2TB Seagate) along with some Saitek flight sim gear. Blew out the password on the Winh8 install and confirmed that everything worked.

This is very likely an RFI filter cap. Open filter = excessive line noise. Excessive line noise = weird and generally bizarre behavior, up to and including microprocessor lockups, watchdog timeouts,...

APFC here. And I think that this actually *is* a true-RMS current meter, but that doesn't matter a lot when your PF is .98 or similar.
