Re: Viewsonic displays still good nowadays?

IIRC, dead pixels were mainly back in the Core 2-era or the early-socket-775-era, LOL. Monitors back then seemed more borderline than the PC monitors of the 2010s.

Looks a lot like bad pixels...

Re: Gigabyte GA-586DX Retro Goodness

Most of the case back, especially the plugs, scream late-1990s to the Bush Jr. era, at least most of the Bush Jr. era, anyways. ;)
In the Bush Jr. era, it was basically the same thing, but with...

2010-built Panasonic TC-L42U22

This is an LCD with CCFLs, unlike what a lot of folks seem to think, when they hear "Panasonic", especially before the mid-2010s.

I have a problem with image retention, I saw artifacts of a...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I don't even know if you can avoid that with regular HDD use!

Unless you mean ones, like "CRC Error Rate", "End to End Error Rate",(or similar) the one for uncorrectable errors or the like...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Because I was poor, I briefly in 2002, from July 5 to October 13, had a T-bird 1300/100. I was in a rush to put it in to my other motherboard, because the Chaintech CT-7AJA2E was acting odd, but...

Re: ASUS A7M266 Kills T-Bred B??

Wait, IIRC, on post-T-bird, it's tricky! I thought I saw a folk post that you have to fill a void with non-conductive stuff, then put a conductive adhesive on top of that!

Re: Samsung 4k dark areas

QFT, unless it's OLED! OLED is a new revolutionary tech that's supposed to put LCD panels, including IPS, to shame!

OLED is not related to LCD!

Re: ASUS A7M266 Kills T-Bred B??

That's for T-birds only! For post-T-bird, you have to use a conductive and adhesive liquid that dries, to fill in gaps, IIRC!

Re: An idiotic question about AC and shocks.

How is it where you are? What is the max voltage and it does sound like you have 2 legs (hots) for a total of at least a rating of 460 V. If you have 2 legs for 230 V, then you don't need a neutral...

Re: Cleaning Motherboards - ATTN SMOKERS!!

There was worse:

At Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, in Greenfield, New Hampshire, in horticulture class, the horticulture office PC got mouse'd! There was a mouse living in the PC case!...

My sister has been freaking out a lot! Possibly some tarantula-sized ones as well! LOL!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

And it's not even "sunflower season", LOL

Our sunflowers don't start blooming until at least later-July. Usually August.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Is there anything that looks like an SDRAM chip, like the past kind, with pins, instead of being BGA?

Re: HP 250 G5 not working, led blinking in Caps Lock

So you'll be on a wild goose chase, because it gives a generic-looking blink, just like a router that failed to get a valid signal...

Re: Need help wiring up 240VAC.

I would try an Ace and maybe an Agway! They're more likely to have U.S.A.-manufactured receptacles...

Re: Anyone have a TX850W

I just got a TX850M (the modular cable version) for my socket 1366 rig.
Took a while to do custom wiring to hook up the Alienware Area 51 case. ;)

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

I usually don't worry about exploits, unless there's a port configured to be accessible via the WAN, and folks who merely hop on the internet, get exploited. (Like Blaster and Sasser in the mid-2000s)

Re: Paxville or Bust! The Supermicro X6DA8 Project

I think I had that kind of issue before, even with a Core 2 and later, IIRC, LOL.
