Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Picked up a free Geforce 7600GT AGP 512mb. I didn't even know these were available in AGP. Card works, but has some Sacon FZ crap caps on it....not bloated, but will be replaced anyway.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I actually thought about that when I bought it new back in the 90's....but just never got around to it. I bought it and the Sencore LC102 at the same time, circa 1994....

Continuing to go through...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

So far DVR v2 is running great!! It's fully assembled and doing its thing....but v1 is still standing by, just incase... I was really surprised that v1 was struggling to cut the mustard....but this...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

That's exactly what I've done. The recordings are stored on a NAS....actually more than one.... By the time they find the DVR or attempts to deface/destroy the cameras, they've already screwed the...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Ok, the more I diddled with this, the more I liked it, with a specific task in mind. The CPU is a Pentium Quad core @ 2.4Ghz with 8gb DDR3 RAM in dual channel mode. When I first looked at it, I...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I haven't cracked it open yet...but I envision a few 'fukkyou' caps staring back at me when I do..... This worthless baytrail board was a great one to test it with.....if it went up in smoke, that...

Re: Ratdude's Main Rig V6

Maybe on some boards a modded BIOS would cure it....but using my above example, it appears more along the lines of something hardwired in the board, in the chipset perhaps, or just some strange...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I tinker with my 'toy' machines (I have lots of them)....the machine I count on the most is 7 years strong.....with no 'tinkering'....just an occasional upgrade or blast with the air hose.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Re: My Latest 8-core Project

For what it's worth, the NVS510 didn't go to waste....my DVR needed a GPU, and this one is perfect. It doesn't strain a bit with all the IP camera feeds when only driving one monitor. :D

Re: Ratdude's Main Rig V6

I wouldn't say that....more along the lines of what diif said... They aren't targeting the gamer crowd, and hence, not a lot of demand for SLI support amongst their target audience. I was only...

Re: Ratdude's Main Rig V6

That makes sense....but figure this one out. The Supermicro X8SAX (https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon3000/X58/X8SAX.cfm) doesn't support SLI apparently, but the Supermicro C7X58...

Re: Ratdude's Main Rig V6

I ran into this when I tried SLI'ing a pair of 9800GT's I had on a X8SAX, x58 chipset....it should have done it....but it would not do it. I'm beginning to think Supermicro just thinks SLI is the...

Re: My Latest 8-core Project

Re: Topcat's Other Misc Weird Build Thread

Probably. After googling a little, it seems this board has a history of not liking various CPU's. Not that it matters in the case of this build....just tossing things at it I have on hand...it'll...
