Re: Rework soldering iron station 852D+

then it could be the pot, or the chip - i think it uses a 555 timer to drive the triac.

my old air station did.

Re: Directly replacing NiMh cells with Li-Ion cells - bad idea ?

well you mention 10A, i would be surprised if the cell was rated above 4A
most small ones arent.

Re: xbox one-s

the 360 fix is simple,
put a spare cpu heatsink on the gpu and lose the dvd drive.
obviously you hack it first to boot all games from a harddrive.

in theory you could re-direct a lof of airflow...

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

be interesting to put a frequency counter near one of those old designs.
just holding it over the transformer should be enough to lock on.

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

TO3 package is not rare,
it's used for stuff that has to transfer a lot of heat - like 2n3055's
very common in psu's and audo amps.

Re: Battery bank made from 3 series of 2 parallel LGDAS31865 cells

good,
the fact that all the pairs match indicates they are o.k.
just give them a good charge.

if one pair had been under 2v it would have been a problem.

Re: Battery bank made from 3 series of 2 parallel LGDAS31865 cells

Re: Help identity blown part in PC psu

replace the small caps.
a lot of psu chips will go into a kind of startup-loop and make a chirping or hickup sound if the startup cap is poor - eventually they go boom.

i used to replace soo many...

Re: Help identity blown part in PC psu

well obvious thing, pin4 is not used.
so it's not a 3842

and from the pic, it's got 2 parts in it - probably a chip and a fet.
so it is an all-in-one power i.c.

Re: Apple ][+ Astec power supply

Re: Failed RF power transistors...DC testing (i.e. with multimeter)?

the gain can slowly drop over time,
i have seen them fail in the frontend of some nokia cable boxes.

if you have a meter/tester that shows HFE/gain and you have the datasheet then you should be...
