i doubt the vac tool could do it alone - the pads are very small and hdmi has a lot of grounds.

what temp did you use?
i set mine to 260 or 280' i'd have to double-check - if you go too high you can lift pads because you generally keep thse tools on the pads a lot longer than an iron.

box is a relay, a magnetic switch.

the relay reverses the motor wiring to change direction, and the motor stops at the ends because of limit switches.

depends on the current going through it in relation to the heatsink.

programable loads use a fet and can run for hours continuously.

if you replace the plug fuse, what resistance do you meter between the live and negative?

neutral is not considered grounded in the device or even a building - it would be a dangerous asumption.
any bonding is at the power company's side - either at the box or the transformer.

there is a ceramic capacitor almost between the 2 transformers - c17
it looks very dark!

no, you cant use a T12 station for anything else, T12 has the thermocouple in series with the element.
JBC is similar but not 100%,
every other iron has the sensor and element seperatly wired.

if they both use K type sensors then it's easy, i know a guy who put a xytronics handle on a gordak by just re-wiring the plug - the xytronics iron actually had the right one - just wired different....
