Re: Hitachi Mains Cap?

Seasonic uses them a lot, and I don't see any complaints.

Re: TV Resolution vs. PC resolution.

Your TV's resolution is probably 1366 x 768 and not 1280x720.

You can create custom resolutions from your video card's control panel if you can't set that particular one directly.

Some video...

Re: What are these battries ?

Meh... you could just just get a AAA rechargeable battery and solder wires to each end and inside the device.

700mAh vs 1500-2000mAh ... it will have long enough charge to last a shave.

Re: DC Inrush current limiting circuit ideas

Honestly if you're dealing with low voltages (<~35v) just get a LDO to get 5v at 50-100mA ,a 5v relay and a 6-8 pin microcontroller like a pic10/pic12 or a attiny something... they're like 30 cents...

Re: can these retro video cards be polymodded safely?

Yes, you can polymod them but there's little point/sense ... these are low power consumption cards, good electrolytics would last decades.

Re: Lets talk About Mosfet...

Is it that hard to compare the specifications in the datasheet?

AO mosfet seems to require higher gate threshold voltage (Vgs) ... which may or may not matter depending on how it's used in...

Re: Polymodding Asus A7V266-E, Capacitor Recommendations?

Be careful with the polarity of capacitors.
Typically on motherboads you have a drawing, a round circle with part of it filled - that part normally represents the negative side.

However, Asus...

Re: Simulating load on LED drivers.

The tv will probably also have a circuit to detect how much current goes through the chain of leds at a certain brightness level ... to detect if some leds in the chain are shorted or something like...

Re: Small cap replacements for Sony CRT

Buy 63v or higher voltage rating capacitors, you don't have to stick to 50v

Just check for 63v rated capacitors on Digikey, and all your values can be found on Digikey.

I would be reluctant...

Re: Clarification of values?

If the capacitor is used in a switching power supply or somewhere high frequency is involved, ESR will pretty much be equal to impedance (the differences are so small they can be ignored), so you can...

The polarity is usually printed on the label or engraved in the plastic near the dc jack

you should see a logo similar to this near the connector:

Re: closest match for Nichicon HZ 6.3v 2200 uF

I'd just replace it with a polymer capacitor. Depending on the location, probably any ultra low esr 1800uF or higher polymer capacitor would do.
As you say it's working now, measure the voltage...

Re: Swapping japanese/generic electrolythics with solid-states

@Snayperskaya

If you look on your motherboard, you will see that he DC-DC converter (the VRM) that converts your 12v into the voltage your cpu is made out of a few almost identical "modules",...

Re: Swapping japanese/generic electrolythics with solid-states

FL series is one of those "custom" / "on special order" / "on big customer request" series, and it's probably just a tweaked series to make the capacitors smaller diameter and taller (more suitable...

i wouldn't replace them.
the capacitors by back panel and agp and pci slots and bottom usb headers , they're all for filtering 5 rail locally, they just reused KZG series probably because they...

i don't agree with that statement...

While yes, the FL series of capacitors from Panasonic may be better in specifications compared to FM or FR, it's not really that far off.

That OEM...

Re: Unknown Motherboard Recapping

Indeed, you can use much lower capacitance than what's already on the motherboard, if you go with polymer capacitors.
They had to go with 1800uF 6.3v or whatever is there, because those capacitors...

Re: How do I calculate the amp hour for a device to run on battery power

It's a bit more tricky... your led uses 360mA but what voltage? because the light could have one led and pump 360mA through it, or the lamp could have 3-5 leds in series so still 360mA but you have...

Re: Wireless recording device

Even cheap microcontrollers have 10 bit ADCs so in theory you can have 8 bit audio without any problems. So you could record mono 8 bit 22050 Hz audio for example onto a SD card.

Some...
