...and at the risk of sounding redundant, loss of browser support is what will do-in an OS @ consumer level...

My Win7 HTPC's can run indefinitely for the tasks they do. They aren't patched at...

I also have some 5+yrs running Win7 systems (mainly HTPC's) that are completely isolated from the outside world.....never had any issues.

Probably. That's 18 months from now. Mozilla has not announced yet, but I could see them being on-par with this time line. As I've always said, an OS is not obsolete for mainstream consumer use...

I do the same....Install, then a handfull of MSU's, then WSUS is completely turned off. I will patch things if something big comes up (like wannacry, etc).... I have several HTPC's in the fleet...

AT PSU = Wires carrying line voltage to a mechanical power switch in the front of the case....unlike an ATX where all high voltage is safely contained inside the PSU housing. I've seen quite a few...
