Re: 150uf at 450 wv Large Capacitor Blown - I've Never Seen This... Have you?

It can happen... lightning strikes, power phases being shorted in such a way that you'd get 300v+ in the device, active pfc circuits breaking and sending high voltage in those caps...

Re: I want to build a LED flood light board use 3.3 volts or 5 volts (White color LE

Your Digikey link in reply to my previous post doesn't work, so I'm not sure what product you're referring to.

My advice would be to stop thinking about how to power your leds with 5v or...

Re: I want to build a LED flood light board use 3.3 volts or 5 volts (White color LE

5v leds? those are probably led strips, which would come with resistors for every led or for every r,g,b of the led or the current limiting is built in if you're talking about programmable RGB leds...

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

They're working on Ryzen mobile, but it's a niche (along with servers) where Intel pumps a lot of marketing money and they won't give that up easily. It's more difficult than desktop and HEDT...

Re: Makita 440 Cap types?

Like everyone says, those are resistors.

You can grab a multimeter and measure the resistor you broke off.
You can desolder at least one leg of the other resistors and then measure those, or...

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

They're not as badly affected as Intel, but they're affected.
The CPUs are not vulnerable to all the issues Intel cpus are vulnerable to due to different design choices, and on those that affect...

Re: Swapping japanese/generic electrolythics with solid-states

Yeah, Asus and Asrock (for some time, I'm not sure they still do it) ... used the reverse notation for capacitors where the filled side of the circle represented the positive.

Good to keep in...

Re: Adequate capacitors for ZX Spectrum 48K

Those capacitors are very low ESR - they didn't have technology so good back then, the capacitors were more "average" ESR.

No saying so good capacitors wouldn't work but it may make more sense to...

Re: My basic project - needs simplified - Digital TTL circuit maybe

Just use some optocouplers at the end .... user pushes button, voltage goes in optocoupler, led turns on and the sensor on the other send picks up and sends the state to the micro

make it for 8...

Re: Swapping japanese/generic electrolythics with solid-states

For both of these boards, they probably failed due to simply being a problem series (in the case of KZG) or maybe because the power supply had a bad 5v / 5v stand by circuit.

On the green board...

Re: What about all these SMD capacitors with no marking?

Simply too little space to print series, capacitance and voltage.

In a large majority, they're decoupling capacitors ... 10nf 47nf, 100nf and voltage rating of 10..25v, maybe even less than 10v...

Re: LM317 constant current question

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge#Tables_of_AWG_wire_sizes

0.75mm is ~awg 21 with 42mohm per meter.. round it to 45 mohm... so 6m (3m x 2) would be 0.27 ohm... you're losing 0.27v...

Re: LM317 constant current question

There's a voltage reference inside the chip, like the classic TL431 , but a more basic one. It produces 1.2v .. 1.3v depending on temperature, amount of current flowing through (which depends on your...

Re: Polymer capacitor confusion.

Any of those will work, I'd go with Nichicon or Panasonic.

Ignore the temperature bit, the VRM for the memory won't be hot so the capacitor won't heat up ...

For polymer capacitors, the...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3: a heatsink on the SOC is recommended

It's not sold with one because the height can interfere with "hats", the daughter boards you can install in the wide IO connector.

For most cases, the cpu isn't running at 100% for long periods...

Re: Some serious security bug in INTEL CPUs?? Since Westmere possibly

Yeah, the problem is you don't know how many of these bugs were required by NSA and other organizations to be put there in the first place , or how much money Intel received to NOT fix some of these...

Those are most likely polymer capacitors, which typically don't break as often as electrolytic capacitors and don't have to be replaced.

Don't know the manufacturer, the pinkish ones may be Enesol...

Re: How to tell Low ESR or not.

2 ohm is not very high, for such a small value capacitor and considering it's rated for 85c only. I'd replace with a lowish esr or some more general purpose capacitor, like Nichicon PS or PW series,...

I like 63/37 more than 60/40, and I have the above Multicore C502 0.56mm spool and works great for me.

Re: Solder differences and desoldering tools/technique

Yes, quality solder should help.
You have plenty of high quality solder on Digikey, Newark, Mouser ... you shouldn't mess with solder from Amazon unless it's sold by authorized resellers or the...
