Sorry rddube as I meant to get back sooner with those numbers but it's been a busy week. Anyway I did get a new meter and tested those points again and they are reading 396 ohms and 392 ohms which I think you referred to as Ok as they were in the ball park.

If not let me know...but unless you have another idea or area to check on that board I guess I'll have to try constructing a CCFL tester per Budm's thread and see if those are a problem. Was really hoping those bad capacitors were the problem but it looks like something else and with all the new meter, new soldering tools..etc this project is becoming cost ineffective.......lol

I still have some questionable solder joints to go over and re-float but I'm not pinning any high hopes that it's the issue but we will see. Thank you for all your input and advise on this issue!.


Any clue what those 2 transformers (L602, T601 on the board) should read on the pins?

The transormers seem to be good, I was getting 450 ohms on one of the monitors I fixed. I am starting to thing that one of your CCFL tubes is probably drawing too much current and is shutting the protection chip down.

You can try the refloat of some solder joints (it did the job for me on another repair), but ultimetaly if you can test the CCFL's (you only one spare to test) I think you will have crossed out or confirmed that the problem is there.

Make two of these test lamps to verifiy if your power supply/inverter board is OK or not:

Hey Budm! You need to make 2 test lamps? How do you check each ccfl individually, is there a special sequence?

If the board has four lamps, one pair for top edge, and another pair for the bottom edge then you will disconnect one of the two pair of the lamp and put the test lamps and fire up the board to see if the lamps will stay on, if it does then you know that one set of the original is good.
There is possibility of have one bad lamp in each pair of lamp assembly, so you will need 2 pair of test lamps or you can try using combination of lamps hookup to narrow down but that takes too much time for me, I have many test lamps so it is not a problem for me to use all 4 test lamps first to verify that the power supply/inverter board is good or bad.

Always a "Teach'en"moment when budm stops by.... Thanks for the info guys and I'll try and test those CCFL's soon but might be a few days as I'm in the middle of a "Pool" rehab for the summer.

budm.... I'am assuming by "Pairs" you mean test the top 2 together and then the bottom 2? Not one of each...Correct?
