Keyboard and mouse losing connection on start up

I built a desktop computer on a Asus mobo a while back. It runs good but it has one annoying problem. Every so often when I start it up, the keyboard and mouse fail to turn on. Not sure if it's USB drivers or something else. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

check the jumpers for usb power.
most asus boards can power usb when in standby - you dont want that.

Thanks for the reply. So this could cause my keyboard and mouse not to turn on at start up? What would I look for when examining the jumpers?

Sounds like the strangeness that happens with Asus' socket 1366 motherboards, at least sometimes.

It's like what happens with my Corsair Strafe keyboard. I would have to pull out the keyboard USB plug and re-plug it back in then mash the "Del" key to get to the BIOS setup!

It's strange and only happens about every 50 start ups. I always reboot to get the keyboard and mouse working again. Sometimes it happens back to back but that is very rare. Even more rare is sometimes the screen stays black with a blinking cursor as if windows failed to load. Not sure if it's related at all
