Reset/erase Hynix SC210 to factory default

Some Googling made this seem straightforward, but it ain't necessarily so:

First try was Hynix Drive Manager, supposed to be able to do PSID reset

In Win7 x86 context, what shoddy software – this greeted me first time I clicked it from Start menu:

After wild goose chase triggered by the OpenGL bit, I tried swapping graphics cards until penny dropped when it still objected to a Radeon HD3450

    How I got it work:

    1. Command prompt
    2. Change to install directory \Program Files\SK Hynix Drive Manager
    3. Copy d3dcompiler_47.dll taken from \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox of a Win10 x86 machine
    4. Run skhms-drive-gui.exe

To be fair, in Win10 environment, the POS does run without issue

But still won't reset SSD unless one knows its password (no sign of PSID reset option)

    Next I tried EasyKit_WindowsInstaller_x64.exe from:
    https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index...41&v_langue=en

This did have a PSID reset option, but it was greyed-out, making me think my SC210 doesn't support that

Then I started chasing down various HDPARM rabbit holes on the Internet

It soon became apparent that Dell's password algorithm is much more sophisticated than leaving a default value for master password

Next try was a couple of Dell password generators, both originating from hpgl, Russia

    Unfortunately they didn't work either:

So now I'm SOL unless I can get a Dell password that works for the SC210

    Any help most appreciated

Re: Wasting life trying to reset/erase Hynix SC210 to factory default

Use hdparm to send the drive an ATA_SECURE_ERASE command. This not only wipes the drive, destroying all data on it, but also clears the password on the drive.
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

My computer doubles as a space heater.

Asus Q550LF (Old main laptop, 2014-2022) - Decommissioned and stripped due to a myriad of problems, the main battery bloating being the final nail in the coffin.

How are you connecting the drive to the computer?

Sata connector usually used by DVD drive

Dell BIOS seems to accommodate that alright - note in 2nd last pic, message says "system modular bay HDD is protected by a password"

Asus BIOS How To Reset To Default Settings?
                  by YG007
Hello... Where do I start. I have 2 questions/scenarios that might bring this laptop back to life, so here it goes!

I have this laptop (Asus UX52VS) where I was flashing the BIOS to it and it froze during the process. I didn't have a reliable BIOS chip programmer at the time (It was a CH341A USB Programmer from Amazon where it took hours just to get the clamp on the chip and then every time I read, it gave me different results/corruption, and never would pass the verify test as no 2 reads were the same data), so I brought it to a shop. They had it for almost 2 months, but during...

                  Dell password for Hynix SC210
                  by pfrcom

I've had no success with a couple of Dell password generators, both originating from HPGL, Russia

Trying the right 11 characters of SC210's serial number, and also the code given by Dell's lock message

Also no success with BIOS_PW.ORG, using first 7 characters of Dell's lock message

FWIW, BIOS_PW generates same codes when I input same as for HPGL

Could someone please supply a password, or advise what I'm doing wrong above...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
                  by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray Player – No Power, Reset Signal Always High
                  by ictc
I'm troubleshooting a Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray player that shows no signs of life. The display remains off, and no buttons respond.

Inside, the power supply is working correctly, and all expected voltages on the mainboard match the service manual specifications. The CPU warms up slightly (checked with a thermal camera), the crystal oscillator is functioning, but the reset signal remains high at all times.

The reset circuit appears to consist of two NPN transistors, one driven by 5V VCC and the other by 3.3V STBY, as shown in the attached schematic. Should the reset...

ASUS M5A78L-M LX - PWR button works sometimes, CPU stuck in reset
                  by kotel studios
                  Hi,
Firstly I'd like to apologize if this was posted in the wrong forum (I'm new here )
Recently I got an ASUS M5A78L-M LX board in a scrap lot. Saw one broken cap which I've replaced. No broken traces and missing components. While soldering a new cap a bit of solder got onto components bellow SB (opposite of the two lythic caps). Didn't see it and powered the board on.
I was greeted with it not starting. Came back to it a day later and shorted the PS_ON with GND to force it on. It sprung to life but with CPU stuck in reset (it was an FX 4600 I believe). Thats when I saw the...
