    Re: Uni laptop

Looks like it's an ACPI Driver.
Try this. Don't know if it will work fore sure, since the tecra M2 is just a series. I just took a random uess at the exact model. It may not even matter, they may all have the same ACPI.

PS. Looks like you got windows XP MCE. Not that it will make a huge difference to someone using it for study, but it looks cool.

I don't have MCE actually... I just downloaded the 'royale' theme pack off softpedia. LOL

I installed the driver that c_hegge specified only to find that nothing changed unfortunately. What could it be...?

you probably have the wrong chipset drivers - get some from intel.

            Re: Uni laptop

            This is the infrared driver.

You might have to install it manually with "update driver" for the unknown device. Anyways, here's the link:

"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

              Re: Uni laptop

BTW.. does this have the proprietary Toshiba BIOS or a normal Award or w/e one?
if it's the toshiba one, holding Esc while powering the laptop up forces an error message (Check System, Press F1 key) .. which lets you go into the BIOS with F1

The Toshiba BIOS is kinda awkward, but i've never had any issues with it (other than figuring out how to get in lol)
Plus those laptops with a toshiba BIOS can be unlocked in case they have an unknown BIOS/System password (hex-edited floppy or a special plug for the parallelport)

edit: antenna should be integrated already. just the card missing (as usual on laptops with optional WLAN/WiFi)

                Re: Uni laptop

This one has the proprietry Toshiba BIOS... and yes I have activated the IR system but it isn't detected in system properties so I think it should be the IR driver that's missing.

Yup, it's the IR. Confirmed after installing the IR driver...

Glad you got it sorted. I wonder why windows was saying ACPI.

that would also be possible. WLAN/WiFi + Bluetooth combo card..
seen stuff like this before with more than 1 function on a miniPCI card (Modem + LAN for example)

Yeah I think it's for the bluetooth... even though bluetooth is a completely different module in the laptop itself... because the extra cable is actually taped to the area where the BT card should be located.

Did you see if you could get a Dell Inspiron 4150? It seems to fit the bill.

As for the WG511t, it is Atheros based, thus very good
