still don't care, unlike windows which a can say with out a doubt sucks, Mac os was good. i wouldn't pay full price for one, but it was not bad at all. i like linux+gnome/xfce better, but i have no reason to trash OS 10.4... i might sell it anyway, the OS 9 fanboys will give me a good chunk of change for it...

well, a revival-

i dug it out... the oil DID turn gooey... yikes.

no way to seal in oil... i have some lithium grease i could try.

ps- the goo got all over the heatsink as well

i fixed it (knock on wood)

what i did was i popped off the old POS heatsink... and i used zip ties to attach a nice big heatsink from a dead p4 chipset... i know, n----r rigging at its best, but until i get my hands on thermal epoxy, it will do.

yes it is. i also have a polymodded imac g5 upstairs... i have come top like the os better (10.5 esp, 10.4 is ok) than xp, ubuntu/xubuntu is still my favorite (x86 or x86-64 only).

can you show a picture of how your cooling a cg4 cpu with a chipset heatsink? or is this one of those enormous chipset heatsinks?

it is a decent one... it is the gpu i am cooling, an ati rage 128 pro.
