    Air Compressor for PCs

What is the best cheap air compressor to use for blowing out dust? I tried looking on ebay and all I can find is the 12v crap for inflating tires. Harbor freight has one for $21 but its 12v as well. Does anyone make an AC tankless compressor with a detachable hose?

Check for airbrush compressors. Caveat is you're not going to get the volume you want from a tankless model. Most are less than 1 CFM.

Harbor freight usually has a <$100 model with a single tank and the hose & accessory kit. Check around at local auto parts stores too.

I was hoping for a desktop one. I used to have the $89 one from harbor freight but it got stolen.... now I don't even have a garage to keep it in. I think something like what I'm thinking of got recalled...

The recalled ones had the plastic shroud over the motor. Mine was recalled (not the HF model) but I read about the recall and removed the shroud. It always was vibrating against the frame anyway so removing it made it much quieter.

You could always get one of the smaller ones (or a bicycle pump) and use it with one of the rechargeable aerosol spray cans. Used for paint, but a "spray tube" tip fits right in. Good up to about 90 PSI.

[EDIT: an example only - Cheaper ones exist. HF was $5 with coupon.]

What I use. Pretty cheap. I like how portable it is. Really hard to steal and uses quite a bit of power though.

We got ours on sale, plus they are no where near that price in the store. Ours was $849.99 marked down to $749.99 at TSC.

Plus thats a porter cable, not a Ingersoll Rand

I don't think I've dumped that much cash into my computer. The rechargeable air can might work.

                  All,
I have two 120V compressors that I have been working on. Both are getting new Capacitors.

As I am replacing the capacitors I am looking over the other electrical components.

One compressor is a Harbor Freight 21 Gallon Vertical . The other is Horizontal Craftsman which is roughly the same size. The one Harbor Freight Capacitor was fried and the other looks like it may have opened. The Craftsman Starting Capacitor was/or has been leaking badly.

The Harbor Freight Thermal Overload protector was lost over the past 10 years after the unit was originally...

                  LG fridge compressor not starting
                  by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, my old but loved LG GR-642 stopped cooling and frosting all together.
The display shows everything as normal, the focused cooling activated when I open the doors but the compressor wont start.

First I measured the terminals on the compressor at the back of the fridge. 0 volts.
Now I disconnected the compressor and measured resistance on its leads: around 8 ohms.

I dissassembled the main powerboard, couldn't find anything suspicious but I noticed that the comps relay wont send voltage to the pin, while Fan H and fan L is indeed at 230V....

I had bought one of them about a year ago and the one thing that I do not like about it is that the battery made for dose not have very long running time even though it has two 5 amp hour battery packs which the battery packs do test at 5 amps each it is that this air compressor takes a lot of power to run ( Harbor Freight I will post a website link if anyone is interested in buying one and doing the same thing )

Harbor Freight car battery chargers any good?
                  by caphair
I was gifted a $50 HF gift card and could use a battery charger. Just not sure if the HF brands are any good.

Anyone bought/use any they can recommend?

Out of their selection and reviews was contemplating this one:

                  Beko fridge compressor clicking
                  by Liam.25
                  Hello,

our fridge and freezer stopped cooling last weekend, it’s a Beko fridge.

looking at the bottom, I can hear the relay clicking on the plug attached to the compressor.

There is also a 3uf capacitor, I’m thinking this is a run capacitor, I tested this with my fluke and and it measured at 1.5uf, so I replaced this (new one tested just over 3uf) so that’s where it should be.

I was thinking this was the issue. The compressor seem to run for like a minute then shutoff again.

inside the relay, there is a Klixon 4tm thermistor,...
