I have a friend that wants to connect her nokia e63 to her wireless internet connection through wifi. She says theres a problem though... It won't connect... She has the correct wifi password and everything though. A few days ago i was there and i connected my laptop to her wifi connection with no issue at all... So i definitely know the dynalink wifi router doesn't discriminate against mac addresses... So what's the problem here?

Re: mobile phone wifi
Can your friend connect to ANY wireless router? It's possible that the WIFI connection is locked by the provider and unusable or simply doesn't work.
Also, what encryption are you using? Some devices only support WEP and won't work with WPA.
No, a router cannot discriminate in this way if the device is adhering to the wifi standards. It could be set to MAC filter on some routers, but I'm pretty sure your friend would know if that was on or not. It's not something that's on by default.

As for the MAC filter, I would doubt that is on because I was able to connect my laptop to the router without any configuration changes or anything alike.Don't find love, let love find you. That's why its called falling in love, because you don't force yourself to fall, you just fall. - Anonymous

Re: mobile phone wifi
Most handheld devices only support 802.11B (some support 802.11G as well).
Some access points can be configured to lock out A, B or G clients.
Check if the wireless access point has such a setting (e.g. Network Mode). My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Re: mobile phone wifi
The phone supports both 802.11 b and g. I don't think the access point is locking out any of the "non" G or A devices, because theres is a PC at her house which runs on a wireless 802.11G and that seems to work fine, so I don't see why the phone shouldn't work...Don't find love, let love find you.
