Help on replacement of touch-sensitive power button

I have a S2440L Dell monitor which is periodically on and off, and I have searched and found that the problem is called "power cycles". a temporary solution can be used below:

*Turn the monitor off
*Disconnect the cable from the rear of the monitor
*Press and hold in the monitor power button for 10 seconds
*Reconnect the power cable to the rear of the monitor
*Try to use the monitor

This method works most time, but some time the monitor does not work which shows blinking/dark. So I guess that I should replace the touch-sensitive power button, but I don't know where to buy the part, and how to replace it by myself. Would someone please give me some idea or suggestions ? Thanks!

You would need to examine the design of the "button" ("surface") to determine what it is responding to -- is it sensing the warmth of a fingertip? The capacitive load of the body attached to that finger tip? Is it photoreflective and noting that "something" is at or interrupting its focus?

Once you know how it was intended to work, you can start thinking about how it might be failing to work properly and devise a remedy.

Surface of the button is flat and smooth, so I guess that the button is photoreflective. However, I am going to open the monitor and perform visual inspection first. At the same time learning basic troubleshooting and testing by following the links.

It could also be capacitive or thermal.

Try "pushing" it with a wooden dowel (so your body heat and "load" is separated from the switch).
