whats funny is the starbutts that used to be in the supermarket is now a quickie mart style drink station.

$tarbux is too expensive for me... tasty but not worth the money

tmobile hotspot is wifi, but encrypted and something like $20 a month... you have to have an account to use it. tmobile is a cell phone company, i think the are orginalally from finland but are here in the us.

The problem here is that I don't know anything about wireless internet. At one point I had wireless cards in my PC's here, but I also had the PC's hardwired to the wireless modem router. All the wireless cards did for me was allow me to see the wireless networks near my home. There are three. One was not secured so I piggy backed on it onetime. The very next day it was also secured.
My son bought a used Nc 620 Hp Compaq laptop last year. I don't remember why but for some reason it needed to have Xp system restore run from bootup. It may also of been that it needed windows reinstalled from the backup partition on the HD. I don't know if I got the model of his lappy right but it makes my Dell C640 look like a Model T Ford. Well when I got it all done I just had to play with it. Keep in mind that there are no unsecured networks near me. I hit the little button with the blue radar dish on it, and IE put me right online. What did the lappy hook up with???? Can I do this samething with some sort of add in card on my lappy????

          It's the same Internet.

          Wireless Internet is either:
          - a LAN card [without wires] that connects to a LAN that has internet.
          [That's what you piggy backed]
          - a cell phone [essentially] that does dial-up via a cell phone instead of a land-line.
          [Probably what your son has.]

The first one doesn't carry any extra fees because the ISP is already paid for by way of the LAN's connection.

The second one you have to pay fees for the cell phone use [minutes] and for the ISP connection. [Probably rolled into one bill or 'a plan'.]

Ok I checked my plan with verizon and I can use free wifi in their listed hot spots. All I would need is a wireless card, and somemore of their junk software installed..... I want the service like my son has so I can drive down the road with and internet connection. I may have to call verizon and talk to a real human being about this if they have any.
