that is the problem, with experience in fails you know what to choose. i read so much shit about raid-5 i am getting worried. a friend in uk says forget about what analysis you read, on good current controllers there is no problem. others say with 3 disks and 1 spare in raid-5 performance is not good. i need them to have one volume 72gbx2 cos they have a lot of current data, digital photos etc.Last edited by willawake; 06-18-2005, 02:29 PM.Comment

For data security, go with a simple mirror. Recovery and RAID rebuild is a snap. If one of the drives in the mirror fails, you can even plug the other into a standard (non-raid) controller, and access as you would a normal drive. A RAID5 would not give that luxury. SCSI 320 is hellishly fast anyway I have it myself, config'd in both multiple arrays 1 mirror and one stripe. The performance difference between the two is noticable on benchmark utilities, but not extremely noticeable in real world performance. Both arrays are f'ing fast!<--- Badcaps.net Founder

I have an Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard with AMD RAIDXpert. I set up a 1000GB RAID1 array on it. This was about 8 years ago. Every once in a while, a power outage or something would knock one drive offline and degrade the array. After a reboot the drive would be back online and it would rebuild just fine.
Recently, a drive dropped offline and the array became degraded. I figured it was no big deal and rebooted then set it to rebuild overnight. The next morning I took a look and both drives had dropped offline at 70% rebuild. Uh oh.

I got this monitor Philips 279M1 and the issue is : when is cold (turn off for few hours, not in standby) and turn it on it's coming whit a red vertical stripe. After 5 minutes or less (depend on the room temperature) the stripe disappearing

This is what happened to 45 degree angled mirror of laser assembly. mirror surface coating is almost completely etched away.

Hoping to figure out if the panel is done. A week or so ago this stripe appeared on right side of display. It is there with all inputs. Pictures attached. the picture and audio are not affected. I tried disconnecting ribbon from buffer to panel and it does not change. Disconnecting the ribbon next to it yields the expected white stripe. There are vertical buffers on top and bottom therefore the 1/2 screen stripe.
There are green and yellow lines on top and left side of stripe and multi-color lines on right side.
My suspicion is that the panel is the cause because there is... -
