I use pulls from 1U & 2U servers as they tend to have much higher capacities and can operate paralleled.

I use a pair of the top supplies (12V @ 70A) wired in series to power my electric wheelbarrow. Anderson connector makes them easy to install and remove (card edge connector is a PITA when you're interfacing to discrete 12AWG wires)

I'll be switching to the bottom supply (12V @ 90A) as soon as I can collect a few more of them.

If my power needs are more modest, I have a bunch of (keypad!) programmable triple output supplies that I can use.

Yes, hence I was lucky to get rid of the 256K units...

I still have a few 30-pin 1M and 4M units somewhere... but even so, these are tiny...

for a dos system, 4meg was good - 8 was huge.

Most DOS apps couldn't make use of it. I ran a 13M 386 in the mid 80's but only used the extra RAM for AutoCAD.

Retro laptop floppy drive not working
            by Satdude
Hi, I have a laptop with a Citizen W1D, an infamous drive in the retro computing hobby. They almost always have bad belts, such was the case with this one. However, after replacing the belt, the drive seeks and spins the disk, but the laptop still gives a "No bootable disk" error. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The heads are clean and are able to move.

VESA EVC to VGA splitter cable
            by tmcw
I found this splitter cable a while back, just got a chance to look at it now, and wondering what it might have been used for. Had a bit of trouble finding out initially what it was, main block that looks like a male DVI connector, split to 2 female VGA connectors.

The main block that looks like a DVI connector is actually a VESA EVC male connector, best concise info here:

            http://www.interfacebus.com/Design_E...or_Pinout.html

Pin 13 on the EVC connector is missing, so maybe removed for keying to some particular graphics card?

            Never came...

Topcat's Ultimate Pentium 4 Retro Gamer!
            by Topcat
I'll open this build with the comment that the Pentium 4 processor was probably my least-favorite CPU; even in Xeons. Netburst processors were hot-running and quite unimpressive performers considering the high clock speeds....but they were capable to a certain extent.....and are now entering the peculiar era of 'retro-ness'.

With that said; I was given THIS LITTLE JEWEL last Friday....a gaming rig built on the very CPU I liked the least....but there were some interesting things in it to say the least....and I really don't have a really good P4 retro gamer in my fleet....so....hmmm...yea...lets...

            Retro DC Bench Power Supply
            by Brendon@aa
Hi, pretty new to repair and have an OLD benchtop DC power supply with no output. There is no voltage showing on the volt meter display however the current meter is full scale at 5a when on the 2a limit setting and 1.35a when on the 500ma setting.

230V AC is making it past the fuse and into the main transformer - a yellow pair on the secondary has 30VAC on it, Brown pair 37V, there is what I think is a centre tap coming from the main transformer in green that has 15V and 20V respectively from the yellow and brown windings.
From there the power dives into what looks like a control...
