"Save Image As" I always get a 25KB .jpg that is HTML

In my browser, when I right click "Save Image As" I always get a 25KB .jpg file saved. It's not .jpg I can't open it.
The file is actually Badcaps HTML

I'm using Firefox 61.0.1 with Adblock plus and Ublock Origin. Turning them off does not change anything.

Any ideas why right click saving an image, saves HTML with JPEG filename ?

    Works fine here using Opera.
You could try to rightclick the image and open that in a new tab.
What I suspect happening is the addon we use to auto-resize images is somehow interfering.
But I have never seen such an issue myself with it...

What (exactly) are you right-clicking on? E.g., if you right-click on the "dunno" GIF that you included in your post, you should end up with a "dunno.gif" being saved as the "image". If you right-click on the "BADCAPS.NET FORUM" image atop these pages, you should get a "badcaps-banner-3.jpg" as the image being saved. The same should apply to the thumbnails in posts.

might be right clicking in the wrong hotspot or there's some evil html going on there that could tell that you're using a context menu and prohibiting download with the easiest possible save-as...

        Which image?

what usually works is right click and "save linked content as"

Try firefox in safe mode, restart with addons disabled, see if that works

Click on Badcaps post that has an attachment: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...5&d=1548445387

"Save Image As": get a wrong 25KB HTML file

                "View Image Info":
                Background: chrome://global/skin/media/imagedoc-darknoise.png
                Image: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...5&d=1548445387
                Size: 24.06KB
                Dimensions: 24px x 24px (scaled to 1,000px x 750px)

"Save Link As": works OK !

I'm not sure why. The browser seems to have a bug, it took me an hour to disable FF privacy crap settings so I don't look like I'll reinstall it.
I disabled the two add-ons but no difference.

"Save Image As": get a wrong 25KB HTML file
I right-clicked on the above link and "Open Link in a new Tab". This displayed a photo. Cursor shows a magnifying glass with an encircled "+"). I then right-clicked on that photo and "Save Image As" gave me a 667KB file called "20190125_182340.jpg" (which was probably the name of the original file uploaded)

If you open (in your browser) the "25KB HTML file", what do you see? If you open it in Notepad, what does it say?

Works for me (Firefox 60.something ESR, Linux)

                      Attach the file you got?

Just set the correct DEFAULT programs and it should work ok, or the browser addons got you.
Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button. ...
Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Click the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default for.
                        Click Change program.

Re: "Save Image As" I always get a 25KB .jpg that is HTML

It happens on other websites, "Save Image As" generates an image filename .jpg or .png - but the file is not an image file, it is HTML.

Unable to upload two image saves from Badcaps threads as they are not a valid image file. so I made zip file. Open with a text editor.

.jpg .png is associated to Windows Photo Viewer.

FF Web console inspector after clicking on an image:
                          <img src="https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=190663&d=1550017639" alt="https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=190663&d=1550017639" class="shrinkToFit" width="389" height="693">

I think Firefox is corrupted somewhere. I will mess around more.

Find a JPEG on your computer. Verify it is a valid JPEG by double-clicking on it (which will probably have Windows Photo Viewer open it). Write down the complete path to that file.

                            Now, in your browser, type:
                            file:///path_name_to_file
(Note that there are THREE slashes, there)

So, if the file was on user Fred's desktop, that would be something like:
                            file:///C:/Users/Fred/Desktop/filename.jpg

You should see the JPEG displayed in your browser.

Now, try right-clicking on it and doing the "Save Image As..." trick to see how THAT works.

The downloaded file looks like the framing html, as if somehow it was saving page as instead of saving the image... hmm...quite strange. At least it's not downloading some other third party html unrelated to BCN.
