    software is free
hardware costs money, let them make it in china, now it's free

everything must be free so we can sell the product and make 100% profit!

That's the fallacy. Software often costs considerably more to develop often because it is called on to do more for the same recurring dollars than a "hardware" solution would ever consider practical! (would you even try to design a programmable timer to drive that lamp's SCR out of discrete hardware components?? And, what would you do when tasked with making it for less than 25c??)

Sadly, software solutions to even the simplest problems are getting increasingly over-designed -- often in the guise of making it easier to develop solutions with "less effort".

New project for a Lipo4 based battery pack for a battery backup that I found an enclosure from Battery Hookup
        by sam_sam_sam
Right now Battery Hookup has these e-bike battery packs that are used but I am going to remove them and test them and see how good they are and maybe resell or reused them for another project this is for another day

When I get the rack mounted enclosure that I mentioned in another post I will see how well they fit in the enclosure and how much room I will have left

These battery packs are a little bit hard to get out of the enclosure because they were a little bit glue...

        Magnetic Stirrer Project Reset
        by EasyGoing1
So based on some of the comments in my other posts, there seems to be some confusion or maybe some assumptions, I'm not sure exactly, so I wanted to hit the reset button on the entire discussion and make a few things clear that might not have otherwise been obvious.

First of all, the reason I post in this forum is that I simply do not have enough knowledge in electronics to do some things that I would like to do. So I post my questions in here and I try to be as thorough as possible MOST of the time, so that those of you who do take the time to respond, will be as informed as possible...

        Basic electronic knowledge resources
        by swofra
        Hey all,
I've got a few XBOX power problems but don't know much about anything concerning electronics troubleshooting outside of replacing caps. Instead of coming on here and wasting people's time being confused when they say check rectifier, transistor, resistor, etc or whatever it may be and then having to ask "what is that?", I wanted to learn and build up a knowledge base first so I'm not completely clueless and can apply the good advice people give without confusing the situation more by not knowing what i am doing.
Is there a good thread or source, either on this...

HP RTX 3060 with bad cap (beginner project)
        by Bladiblad
I have an interesting project here. I have a HP RTX 3060 12GB VRAM GPU with a shortcircuit between a (what I believe is) a coil and a cap. The short circuit is so bad that it will trigger a failsafe on the PSU.

I'm a beginner in this field and have managed to do only very simple board repairs so far. I have basic understanding of the components (mosfets, caps, nand chips) but completely diagnosing a board with schematics would be challenging. In this case though, I'm going to hope that replacing only the two shorted components will bring the card back to life (if none of the IC's...
