    Fastest AGP card?

I need a good agp card for my new IBM dual 604 board with a agp pro 50 slot (compatible with agp 8x/4x/2x,)

I was thinking like a radeon x1650, good bit of performance without breaking the bank.

    But i also found a 3dlabs card for cheap. A 512mb wildcat PRO VP880.

    Re: Fastest AGP card?

From what I recall, the latest and greatest AGP video card made is the Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP. It needs a honkin' 30A on the 12V rail but it's the best AGP card out there right now (and probably forever since most people now use PCI express).

"a little" less power hungry and a bit more friendly to your wallet would be a GeForce 6800GT.

Paired with an Arctic Cooling nV Silencer 5 they're just perfect.. :]

i also have a Leadtek WinFast A350 Ultra MyViVo (GF5900 Ultra), but it seems that this card overheated once... some random pixels everywhere...

I just found a 3dlabs wildcat VP990 512mb. On paper, its twice as fast as a 8600gt. about 200 Gigaflops, an 8600gt is about 110-120 Gigaflops.

I thought the wildcat series was only good for OpenGL stuff and had absolutely no DirectX support?

                Re: Fastest AGP card?

Stick with older video cards on AGP, if you can't get a new HD3650 AGP or HD3850 AGP under 100.

But DON'T forget, the AGP is incrediably narrow bandwith compared to PCI-E and new PCI-E even with HD3650 or HD3870 thumps AGP stuff and cost is LESS.

                Cheers, Wizard

                  Re: Fastest AGP card?

The best AGP card I have is an older ATI Radeon All In Wonder. Me thinks its 1x,2x,4x. XP calls this card a radeon 7200 series but I don't think thats right. I seem to remember that the newer ATI drivers that I'm using identify the card wrong but it works just fine. It does the open GL, and direct X stuff too. The ATI card I have is the best AGP card they made without the built in TV tunner stuff. It has s-video out, composit video out, and VGA out. If you can find one of these used I think it will do what you want it to.

It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

According to their datasheets, it has DX9 support.

Marian Trace Alpha sound card repair help
                      by Christos Tsiligiannis
                      Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...

                      Graphics Card mounting frame
                      by Kemer
Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?

As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.

I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.

What worries me right now is the possibility that...

EVGA Nu Audio Sound Card - Not Working
                      by FZG
I have an EVGA Nu Audio sound card that is not working properly and I need some help diagnosing the fault (preferably by someone who owns this card and is willing to take some measurements).

The card sort of powers up (LED lights are coming on and the relais is clicking, some voltages are present) but it is not detected in Windows. I tried installing in two different PCs and tried several driver versions but the card was never detected anyway. So I thought this is probably not a driver / software-issue and then disassembled the card to take some measurements.

                      I found...

Gigabyte Aorus 1080ti - card not initialising
                      by benwaterson
                      Hi there.

Have searched various forums but haven't come across the exact issue I am having.

Bought the 1080ti with a fault (randomly shutting down, black screen , fans full speed etc). Previous owner had replaced thermal pads but many were too thick on inspection.

I tested the card in windows, all loaded up ok. Put some load on the card and it crashed. GPU was reporting 92 degrees C at the time.

Switched the stock cooler out for an AIO water cooler from my 1080 FE, booted the card back up - temps were much better and allowed some load to be applied...
