    hp pavilion dv6000

what do we have here. looks like a dv6000 which someone has poured a big cup of coffee into.

ok but problem is that i cannot move the battery catch to remove battery. i am trying various shit but afraid to break something, its not mine. i dont see evidence of coffee around the battery and this might be existing issue

    any ideas?

actually the owner was very lucky, only a small amount on the metal underneath the keyboard. what is worrying is it travelled down the kbd flat cable into the connector and i cannot clean it very good due to the type of connector.

everything else is ok except the kbd (which is stuck solid and have coffee between the layers and underneath) and apparently running according to the owner.
(of course the typical reaction of ignorant owners is to keep it running or turn it on to check if its ok....)

anyway i am not getting paid for this so i am not going to take it fully apart and spend lots of time. i will order new kbd (70 euro + shipping) from UK.

                Re: hp pavilion dv6000

well i tried the new keyboard and it doesnt work. everything else works. basically coffee travelled down the flat cable into the zif connector. i broke the zif connector closing bit (uuuh) while opening it cos it was stuck with coffee. then i welded the bit together with a soldering iron nicely but then after it didnt work i broke it getting it open again....uuuh

i cant even inspect the zif properly, cant get the camera or a microscope in a good position

anyway i wanted to ask what is the chances the coffee shorted something out like the keyboard controller via the ZIF connector.

also cos i dont have pinout, how many pins of the 26 pins is it probably using (rough estimate)

Put Isopropyl alcohol into a squirt bottle and put the sprayer on stream.
Blast the jet into the ZIF socket into every hole you see and do that while moving the latch around.
