Re: Help finding a resistor
That's a current sense resistor... it has 4 terminals because two terminals are supposed to connect to the big traces carrying current and the 2 thinner traces are going to an opamp or something that would measure the voltage drop across the resistor.
Here's some examples of such resistors:
Depending on the circuit board footprint you probably could use plain 1206 resistors .. just make sure you get the ones with the proper orientation (terminals on the long side or the narrow side)
Here's a start link for you in UK (also check http://cpc.farnell.com with smaller selection but selling as little as 1pcs of some parts and cheaper or free shipping in UK) : http://uk.farnell.com/c/passive-comp...6-3216-metric-
Also ... make sure the resistor is actually bad, because you may confuse it for a short due to having so low resistance. Use the REL button on your meter to take out the resistance leads and then measure the resistor when it's desoldered from the board.
It should measure 0.1 ohms.
Later edit: You should also be able to squeeze 0805 resistors on the footprint, just may have to put a couple of blobs of solder on the pads to solder the smaller resistor well. Then you'd have a much wider selection.Last edited by mariushm; 06-03-2017, 09:02 PM.
