    USB woes

The bottom USB port on my Asus P3V4X motherboard has gone fubar.
The top one still works though. This however did not happen on its own. My brother kicked my cousin off the PC and so he got angry and then pulled on the mouse very hard and threw it... in the process, the black plastic thing in the middle of the usb port broke.
Any way to replace the port with an ordinary solder iron? or just forget about it?

I would just forget about it. Seems like too much of a hassle, although you could get a front usb card from some other computer, and de solder the whole usb ports and solder them onto yours.

I agree: someone (maybe Scenic?) managed to solder some new USB ports on the motherboard, but it's a pain. You can use the spare port with an hub, add front USB ports (there should be USB headers on the motherboard) or a USB 2.0 card.

or you could find another mb (dead w/usb 2.0) and de-solder the ports off of there.
