Winodws 8 RT updates issue

Hi Everyone,

Haven't been back here in a while but I've hit a brick wall with my problems. I've got a Microsoft Surface RT 2 tablet and I can't seem to get windows update to work, in order to install updates. I've tried a fresh install of windows and everything, to no help at all. It is connected to the net and I can access the net etc. I go to Windows Update and it will "sit" on "checking for updates", for hours on end. Nothing happens. I tried to download some updates manually by USB drive, and these won't even install.

What do I do to get this to work?

No idea, but IIRC MS stopped supporting RT? Intel's bay trail platform made RT obsolete, and nobody has touched it since.

Ummmm, not strictly true, MS released a patch in July that stopped users installing an alternative OS.

Surface 1 and 2's are officially useless...

AFAIK I think it probably will be supported as long as Win8.1 is.

someone will probably port linux onto them now m$ has released the debug keys.

I've tried everything from the troubleshooter which apparently fixed registry issues etc. still no go.

Really hating on this now.

UPDATE: Windows update on the surface finally worked. I didn't do anything and one day it was saying "installing updates" as I was shutting down. I assume maybe it was stuck downloading an automatic update at some stage which prevented me from updating manually.
