    Monitor goes black

Something is causing my monitor to drop off and for the life of me I can not figure it out. A power off and on of the monitor by switch not button on monitor brings it back but i have to tap f5 or the split second it comes back up or it keeps doing it. So some pages like wiki, ebay and random sites this happens on all 4 browsers i use. I have played with everything but the generic pnp monitor driver 6.1.7600.16385.

    win 7 pro
    8350
    r9 270x stock OC w/ last catalyst
    8mb gskill 2400
Monitor is hannsg hl248 connected by dvi. hdmi drops also

I am out of ideas. It almost has to be the monitor driver or some code being executed. Many times it's fine until i scroll. Hardware acceleration is off.

I also experience the same thing with my laptop, it turns black. Anyway, as I was reading yesterday, I found out that the screen is going dark or black isn’t likely to be a computer problem; it could be a monitor problem.

Nope monitor is fine for everything else. I can go weeks and it doesn't happen and can make it happen. Just can't figure out why.

This sounds like a problem with either the Catalyst drivers or a unsupported resolution issue.

1920x1080 is supported by the monitor per the crappy hanns-g site. I've tried several of the catalyst drivers including OE ones for the gpu. The hanns-g drivers are mia on the site and I can't remember where I stashed the box or disc that came with the monitor. That would atleast allow me to swap out the generic monitor driver to make sure it's not corrupted.

Make sure that you check the box Hide Resolutions That This Monitor Can Not Display in the advanced section since you said that you are using the basic monitor drivers from Windows inf files.

If the VGA card has a standard 15 pin vga connector use that even if you need to use a vga to dvi adapter.

Try checking for any possible root kits installed and any hidden drivers like virtual iso drives.

Play games? Check for things like Star Force drivers and other copy protection software.

                    Re: Monitor goes black

Gpu is dvi, hdmi like the monitor I use it on. My old ati vga adapters don't work on it. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16814131529

The games i play run great. This has been a persistent issue and chrome is the worst. The other browsers are pre "lets all chrome".

Not a hacker but a lot is shut down and run eset. All secondary scans clear of real issues on others.

To me it seems like a code more people are using than anything. Something isn't getting along.

No clue. Not even sure if that is the issue. It crashed looking at a map and had unplug and replug to the gpu to get it back up. I have the disc someplace.

Starting to think i should have sold both these gpus and got a HIS. I tried to burn that card up and it laughed.

Ok now it is only making the monitor go black and not the tv.

You need to isolate the problem. Is it the Monitor or the Computer at fault? Try using a different monitor with the computer, if that does not make the problem go away then swap to another computer on the suspect monitor. I still think you have a ATI driver issue going on. Do you do a clean install of the drivers with each switch?

Yup but playing around some more after finding a page that causes it I'm gonna say monitor and resolution. Swapping over to the tv it isn't doing it at 1080p. 1600 is the highest general resolution selectable for the tv.

Unfortunately I don't have any other monitors that are newer.

Just glad to be making a little headway.

Still right there it say 1900x1080 https://www.hannsg.com/US/EN/Product...productId=1105

The driver for it is available from the manu.

The driver dl link is dead.

To make it happen I just find a page that causes it like most ebay ad's.

I expect your graphics card is buggered, as we say in the UK. Could you try it in another system or try another card in your system?

isolate the problem, video card first, also check the pins on your VGA cable, see if anything is broken from both ends.
