I have been skimming from this site for some time, but I only joined a few days ago.
This site is another of those that shows the commitment of people as a group and the full power of the web with regards to cracking open/exposing conspiracies or even using the web as a co-ordination tool to reveal problems with anything, anywhere. The prime example is badcaps. This site would never exist if like-minded people did not explore and build into big groups. Anyway, that's enough waffle, I am sure that it has all been heard before.
I currently have an antec truepower 1 380w (separated rails, not multiple 12v though) and apart from its current capacitor issue (the dreaded Fukcedthemup brand - fuyyiken or something similar) and it has performed fine, excepting that I have not really put it through its paces at all, with a barton 2500, and a radeon 9200 lol, (total 160 watts load, without monitor)
Taking into account, dirt-cheap [desk-fan quality] generic no-name brands, mid range brands, high end brands (supposedly FSP, seasonic, enermax (not including their capacitor failings) and then industrial psu's, can anyone show the scale of pricing?.
For example. generic no name 500w peak, (300w continuous) =1x
mid range= antec earthwatts/coolermasters- 2.5x, high end = 5-8x, industrial ?????x
Basically, just curious to see exactly what an industrial psu is capable of and its pricing relative. I would look for industrials but thought it best to let more experienced psu members explain as I would not want to quote price difference for industrials by finding a "cheap option" industrial psu supplier by accident.
Have the industrials ever been caught with cheap capacitors out of interest or was it impossible Not to get caught during the "bad electrolyte" years, which seems more likely...
