It's funny that these companies can't get a native english speaker to proofread this stuff. Doesn't seem like it would be that hard.

Some BIOS glitches I've come across on the web.
Microcode for CPU ID had misspellings and it shows up in Windows.

          - AMD BARTON
          vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
          cpu family : 6
          model : 10
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) Prosussor
          stepping : 0
          cpu MHz : 2158.171
          cache size : 512 KB

          -- AMD Sempron
          processor : 0
          vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
          cpu family : 6
          model : 8
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) Proswssor
          stepping : 1
          cpu MHz : 1825.951

The one for the Barton has also been reported for Athlon XP's.
Usually BIOS updates correct it. (But not always right away.).

Well, both Panasonic and Matshita are Matsushita brands so I'm not surprised here.
I'm not surprised about bad translations anymore: usually any japanese manual is translated in english (sometimes engrish) then the translation is translated in minor languages such as italian.

The funniest of these translations are NTI CD & DVD Maker commands: the Enable BURN-Proof for suitable drives checkbox is named Attivare l'opzione di memoria tampone ha subito un errore di protezione per i drive avente tale opzionei [this gibberish can be re-translated as: Enable pad memory suffers a protection error for drives having this options], overburning becomes sovraccarico [overload] and writing modes (TAO, SAO, DAO) are funnily translated in the Write window as well (but help correctly refers as Track at once, Session at once and Disk at once modes! Damn!).
Since Babelfish-like translations give me nerves, I'd shoot NTI QC chief and asking why they love this language bloodshed. Or first I'll ask and later shoot, I don't know

                        Re: asus engrish

I've had my fair share of computer Engrish. My favorite one yet was a dialog that popped up when I tried to install something:

"The current user has no the privelege to install driver on system, please use the administrator privelege to logo on"

I also had a cheap dual-mode webcam/digital camera that had an instruction manual - it looked like it had been run through Babelfish several times!

"The more sonorous ticktack expresses a success shot, while the less one expresses a failed shot due to lack of light and so on"

"Absolutely inhibit to open battery cover while power is on. When the electricity is break, all store photos will be gone"

"Putting the battery into fire is inhibited less to hurt anyone by explosion or to damage the enviroment"
You know there's something wrong when you open your PC and it has vented Rubycons...

                            Re: asus engrish

I had to go dig out my old "80486 Motherboard User's Guide" for my old unbranded "TRUE 'Green'" motherboard. I found out years later that it was made by PCChips.

Mine was exactly that same layout, except it had socketed cache chips.
I still remember trying to read this paragraph:

                            Memory Configuration
The DRAM sub-system contain 4 banks. Four 30-pin SIMM Socket U8 - U11 using as bank 2 : two 72-pin SIMM Socket U17 using as bank 1 and 3 ; U18 using as bank 0 and 2 . So you can not install 30-pin SIMM if using 2 banks type DRAM on to U18 and you can install 30-pin SIMM if using 1 bank type DRAM on to U18.
Rereading it now I'm shocked to realize I can finally comprehend what they were saying. I guess I'm getting better at Engrish.

Well since this old thread is dredged.

It's not just computer parts. Early 90s video games weren't exempt from Engrish either how about the intro to Zero Wing.

I found one on the case of a PSU once. It was actually stamped into the metal:

                                      Then there's always this:
